I was a member of the same reunion group and couldn't agree more. Anything we asked for was cheerfully virtually always granted. Plenty of fluffy towels. Comfortable beds. Convenient location with easy access to breakfast places, ABC store shopping and Internet cafe. Nothing fancy or posh but so old-time Hawai'i. Couldn't have been happier. MAHALO, GARDEN ISLAND INN! more

My high school graduation class of 1958 had a reunion on Kauai and we chose the Garden Island Inn for a two night stay. I was a little nervous about making the choice for 20 people....BUT, Bravo! the class loved our choice. The owner made a sign for us saying "Welcome..." The staff had snorkeling equipment, towels, tatami beach mats... more

The hotel was nice, the room was spacious with fridge and microwave and if you book the second floor or higher, you get a nice balcony with a view towards the ocean. Wireless internet available. www.gardenislandinn.com Overall I enjoyed the hotel. I think the price is reasonable for Kauai. It is conveniently close to the airport (about 4-5 min by... more

We stayed at the hotel the first two nights and my honey and I decided to go camping at Anini beach, tent and all. The staff was accommodating (Susan is super nice!) and the hotel has a room full of beach stuff (snorkel gear, beach chairs, travel books, etc) that guests may borrow. There is a picturesque garden area and... more

Budget, budget, budget. You pay for what you get. We are out and about most of the day and wanted a place that was centrally located where we could basically just sleep. It fit the bill even though it was noisey on Friday night. A party in the neighborhood and someone was playing the stereo in their truck. Our room... more

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and getting a reco from one of the local experts, I booked 2 nights at the Garden Island Inn. My boyfriend and I were coming to Kauai after staying for 4 days in Lanai at the Four Seasons (yay company trip...kaching!) so we weren't really looking for a fancy place in Kauai. This was... more

We stayed here one night until our week long place was available. It was easy to get to from the airport late at night and across the street from the beach. Couple small but nice little shopping malls within a minute's walk, too. Beach there looked fine but didn't seem to be a popular spot except for surfers. Great litte... more

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Garden Island Inn last week. The hospitality of the owners was second to none that we have ever experienced. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The gardens are exquisite with all the tropical plants and flowers you could imagine in addition... more

Aside from the loud traffic, the partying in the hotel, on the street, in the park across the street, the airplanes overhead, and the protesters against the "Super Ferry" which is right across the street!, and the fact that the place is full of ants and roaches.... People from the bars stagering down the street at 2:00 a.m ranting and... more

Aloha, My name is Steve Layne and I am the sole proprietor of the twenty one-room Garden Island Inn Hotel. This January 2008 will be my twentieth year anniversary of owning, managing and living at the Garden Island Inn. I am very sad when I read a bad review.
