We spent 3 weeks in "The Cottage" from July 12 - August 2, and it was great. We do not enjoy the traditional "tourist" locations, so this peaceful, lovely spot was right up our alley. Cathy and Bill were so welcoming and had great suggestions on where to go. We had beautiful views from the lanai, sunsets and rainbows galore.... More

The is a center jewel on Kauai's crown. My husband and I were pleased with this beautiful location, clean and well arranged apartment. We lived in the Banana Patch, one off three apartments located on a private for a week and enjoyed every minute of our time. Cathy and Bill were amazing hosts. The Banana Patch had a large bedroom,... More

My husband and I stayed in the cottage. It had everything needed for a perfect getaway: some kitchen essentials to help with cooking, beach towels, gorgeous view, soft bed, cool breeze, TV/DVD for movie nights, lush green landscape, wrap around porch, and washer/dryer to help after the muddy waterfall hiking days. A true nature lovers perfect hideaway! The location is... More

Needed a nice but affordable place near south shore for a night- this fit the bill. Accommodation was essentially a small apartment off the main house that included living area, kitchette, bath, and bedroom. Friendly hosts, surrounded by verdant Hawaiian beauty, quiet- just what I was looking for.

We stayed at Hale Kua for 3 days. The location was absolutely beautiful, very relaxing, private, and tropical. The sounds of the birds and even the cows were a treat, and gave us a real feeling of belonging, in a way staying at a large resort never could. The rooms were large, with a nice kitchen and washer and dryer.... More

Our family (two adults, two teenagers) stayed at the Taro Patch for six nights. We loved that it was in a forest away from busy tourist places and yet centrally located within an easy drive to all parts of the island. We had a kitchen for cooking whatever we wanted and use of a cooler and beach equipment. After a... More

How great to stay at a private hideaway in a lush, tropical forest! Our cottage was immaculate and well-equipped (kitchen, washer and dryer--even beach chairs a cooler!). Although not on the beach, it's 15 minutes away and the location is central on a small island. Bill and Cathy were so friendly and helpful; answering our many questions and providing thoughtful... This property is in a nice setting, and was clean. Despite their advertisement as a Bed and Breakfast, they are not a conventional B&B, in fact they only provide in room muffins/coffee/tea to customers who book through an online service. For most customers, the breakfast is you provide and prepare your own in the in room kitchen. Don't expect a... More

Am sitting in the Cottage at Hale Kua with screened doors open to the late afternoon breezes. A storm is moving in from the south and the views are even more dramatic. I am writing this as a response to the recent review that makes one feel as though there is a problem here at Hale Kua. I have been... More
