We rented our 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit directly from the owner via a vacation renal site. We have stayed in our share of sketchy places but this one was by far the worst EVER. Everything in thus unit is old, I'd say original and worn out. The unit needs to be completely gutted. It smells of mold and vomit.... More

The Pono Kai resort is at north end of Kapa'a, which puts it in a great location if you want to see the whole island. Its roughly equal drive time to reach Ke'e beach in the north (start of the Na Pali coast) as it is to reach Poipu or Port Allen on the south shore. If this is your... More

We were staying at the Pono Kai resort for the first time and were very excited based on some reviews we read. When we arrived, the lady at front desk looked tired and annoyed when we were checking in, but I just thought she was having a bad day. The first thing we saw when we opened our hotel door... More

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay at the Pono Kai Resort. It concerns us anytime someone has an unfavorable experience at the Pono Kai Resort. It does not appear you booked your stay through our management company, but you do bring up a good point that each management company has their own set of policies, which may... More

We stayed at the Pono Kai resort for two weeks in a two bedroom, two bath ocean front unit. Our unit had a wonderful view of the ocean and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony and listening to the nearby breaking waves. The building had an elevator which I used rather than stairs. We had a fully equipped kitchen which... More

Came with friends for 10 day stay. No AC in our bedroom nor bath. Antiquated AC only worked for living room & master BR. Loud....could hear everything our upstairs neighbors did & roosters woke us by 4 AM every morning...kept windows open until then, when we had to close them to keep roosters' crowing muffled. Pool is small for size... More

We booked a condo for 8 nights at another resort, after a rather short-planned trip left us with much fewer options than normal. Due to many maintenance issues that prevented sleep for days, the management company (Garden Island Properties, Sue) placed us at this unit for the remainder of our stay. Great location, beautiful ocean view, lovely resort grounds, easy... More

My husband and I enjoyed a week's stay in an oceanfront unit in the A building. Great location, amazing views and the condo was clean and comfortable. The elevator made it possible for my husband, who requires a wheelchair, to stay on an upper floor. We particularly enjoyed the 4 mile paved walking/biking trail along the waterfront, which I understand... More

Stayed at this resort oceanfront Building D. Clean and quiet. Perfect for a laid back vacation. Our unit was very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff always helpful. Bought a bike and used the bike path that fronts the resort. The resort had a bike rack inside the parking lot for safety.

Arriving at our room and being greeted with an unpleasant musty smell was not a good start. The apartment itself was a good size although in need of a bit of an update. We had months earlier specifically requested one on the ocean side- with a reminder call 2 weeks prior but were given one on the road (and I... More
