My friend and I stayed here the night before hiking the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali Coast. For the one night, we wanted something cheap and clean. The location is great -- set directly on the ocean. The grounds are very clean, the staff was friendly and the room was clean. The room was very simple -- don't expect... More

Imagine our surprise when we arrived tired and seeking peace only to find out that the hotel roof was being ripped off and replaced during our stay. Then to our horror a massive tarp enfolded our sliding doors cutting off light and air! Then we spoke to the manager who promptly told us to check out! Some aloha spirit! Well... More

This place was one of the most affordable in Kapa'a. Biggest plus: you can't beat the location, truly beachfront. You have to step to the south side of the hotel to actually find the sand, and there's a very pleasant walk south down the beach (or the more walk-able path above) down to a secluded heiau and rock-lined swimming bath,... This sweet property is made up of all oceanfront effeciencies. All rooms have twin beds which can be pushed together. Maximum ocupancy is 3 people per unit. Our unit is super clean; the staff are friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable and the location is divine. Ok, so with all this great stuff, why shy of Heaven? 1. When... More

From John's Dad: During my Freshman year in high school, I stayed at the Mokihana Lodge with about 60 classmates - our high school band. I loved it. The sun shined though our window each morning. I got up and had a wake-up dip in the pool. The beach has changed; it was coral then. I've always wanted to go... More

This is play is a diamond in the rough. The room is dated and not the nicest, but it provides everything that you need. There are either 2 single or double beds per room. We had the singles and they were surprising comfortable. Our bathroom only had a standup shower, but had great water pressure from the shower head. There... More

Beyond repair, failed housekeeping standards, faulty equipment, dated furniture and furnishings, terrible mattresses and pillows, filthy carpet and ceramic tiles [must wear flip flops to avoid dirtying feet], dirty and aged-filthy patio chairs and table. Filthy patio door glass. Overall, "avoid at all cost" unless you do not care about comfort.

There's nothing fancy about Moki and that's the best part! Where else can you be closer to the ocean, watch the whales, visit with folks from different areas in the Northwest, walk to shopping, farmer's markets and have a great meal at The Bull Shed? All the staff are very pleasant and offer ideas of places to eat and things... More
