We stayed in an ocean view room on the third floor from February 27 through March 3. From reading the other reviews, it appears that we just missed the construction that people are complaining about. While the location was perfect with respect to day trips around Kauai, the hotel itself was underwhelming to say the least. Unfortunately, I think we... More

We spent two weeks this March in this hotel. It is being renovated so during the day (except for the weekends) there was a lot of banging by the pool. Hotel staff was trying to make up for it by providing complimentary fruit, coffee, tea and juice in the morning. The rooms are good size with comfortable beds and each... More

The Islander on the Beach is in Kapaa, Kauai on the ocean side of the Coconut Marketplace. It consists of the main building, plus seven other buildings with rooms. All the buildings are three stories and there are no elevators. The buildings are currently being reroofed which will be complete sometime in July. The building being re roofed is closed,... More

Let's start with good. The place is easy to find, staff are friendly, and it seemed like a safe place to stay. The happy hour was cheap. ( beer $3, mai tai and other $6) There are no elevators. Amenity fee is mandatory. ($18 per night!) The room cleaning wasn't great. Hair all over my sheet meaning they did not... More

The Aston Islander is not the fanciest resort on Kauai and it is not a cheap budget dump hotel. It is a very nice, older hotel that is perfectly located and comfortable. The room was nice, clean and convenient. the staff is very nice. If you are looking for an all inclusive resort experience, this is not it. But if... More

We took my parents for their first trip to Hawaii and signed a contract and paid deposit for unit 145. We had also gotten another unit at the same place but wanted a ground floor for my parents because they cannot climb stairs well. Several months later we were told that the owner of unit 145 had decided not to... More

The rooms were somewhat difficult to find after first checking in. The rooms were clean and the view (at an angle) overlooked the ocean. The staff was nice but not over-accommodating. Parking was somewhat of a challenge. Close to shopping center.

Room was average with some wear. The grounds were nice and well kept. A few complaints, the table assigned to smokers is in a bad location as smoke drifts and you have to walk through it. If you are not back at the Hotel by 5pm you most likely will have to park off site, this in itself will keep... More

We stayed a week at this hotel. The rooms were dated but clean. First morning rooster started at 3:30 a.m. And didn't stop (this happened every a.m.and could heard with doors closed and air conditioning on). Could not leave doors open to enjoy sounds of ocean. After 3rd day there they began a renovation and it was terribly noisy. Could... More

We moved to the mainland after being Kauai residents for many years. Upon a return visit we wanted to stay in the Kapaa area since it's central to seeing the island and close to many of the things we wanted to do. The Islander on the Beach seemed like the ideal location for us. We had a nice stay in... More
