Not your typical B&B - Condos are very private, fairly clean, near reservoir. Breakfast is a real treat. Each day our basket was brim filled with many home grown tropical fruits. Fresh squeezed tangerine juice and fresh cut pineapple in the fridge with other goodies. Homemade blueberry or banana bread...yum! Flower farms were great to walk, we took many photos.... more

We booked this B&B based on the Travel Channel's review. When we arrived we were shocked! The place has no curb appeal at all, is far from anything, especially the beach ( the ocean view is is sliver of ocean in the distance). The room was not as clean as it could have been and the bed was very hard. We... more

We booked the Hale 'Elua Studio at Kakalina's for a week long stay. The property itself is located in a rather pleasant rural, rustic setting, about a 20 minute drive from Kapaa. The studio was clean but small, really suitable for only one person. The queen sized bed's mattress was uncomfortably firm to sleep on, with only about a foot... more

B&B: We stayed in Hale Kolu. Really good, very clean. I saw what one reviewer said about fleas. We had some harmless ants (keep in mind, it's located on a garden on an island, you're bound to get some bugs) but we just carefully sealed any food as soon as soon it was open and it was fine afterwards. The... more

We stayed in what was more like a private duplex for a bed and breakfast rate - it was amazing! Bedroom with plush, top of the line linens, full kitchen stocked with anything you would need, living room with tv/vcr/dvd, books, magazines. There were even beach supplies available - chairs, mats, coolers, etc... Breakfast was fresh breads and fruits picked... more

I booked a room with Kakalina's based on the glowing reviews on trip advisor. When this was confirmed in April, I was informed that there was a 14 day cancellation policy. There was nothing on their website or in literature I received stipulating this policy. The first part of July, I called and cancelled the reservation due to scheduling problems.... more

Kakalina's offers beautiful views out every window. Tropical flowers are everywhere - growing outside and scattered around in vases. Kathy and Bob are friendly and helpful hosts with great recommendations for beaches, restaurants and things to do. And Kathy's baked goods - banana and lemon poppy seed bread, as well as fresh coffee cake - can't be beat. The unit... more

We were very disappointed!! We went to Kauai to get married and we had researched many places to stay months beforehand. We found Kakalinas cottage and thought it would be a great place to stay. The website pictures and description looked great and we did research reviews. We reserved the cottage for the week of Jan 31-Feb7th. When we arrived... more

What a dream, Kakalinas was so relaxing and peaceful. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The unit was perfect, very clean, nicer than most hotels. The breakfast was so good, we're still craving the banana bread. Bob & Kathy were perfect host & hostess, they gave us lots of ideas on what to do and all of them... more

We chose Kakalina's based on the glowing reviews above: a huge mistake. Here's what we experienced: 1. An owner who accepts cash only (very inconvenient), and who did not provide us with a receipt for our payment until we requested it. 2. Grubby, hair-covered floors in the bathroom and living room areas. 3. FLEAS!! That's right, the living room couch... more
