We thought that the grounds and other houses on the street were beautiful. We appreciated the laundry facilities and used them to clean our towels and other sweaty clothes. When we arrived the whole place was very dark. We wrote the owners and suggested that some motion sensor lights at the garage, the patio and outside the units would be... More

Aloha Janet & Allen, Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback, and your patience and understanding while we were off island. Our main purpose is to make our guests feel at home in our home, and we sincerely apologize we did not accomplish this for you. For the majority of the year, the temperature on Kaua’i is very pleasant,... More

We had both rooms that are located up the stairs. We were unable to meet the owners as they were out of town but we had a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and were neatly decaorated. There was also a dressing to store clothes which was good since the rooms aren't that big. Nevertheless, there are a lot of... More

My husband and I stayed at the Makaleha Bed & Coffee for 6 nights in summer 2014. After comparing what it would have cost to stay at a bigger hotel/resort, and then looking the condition of available rentals through VRBO or AirBnB, we chose the Makaleha B&C for it's sleeker/modern/very clean look, for its very reasonable rate of $100/night, and... Spent three nights June 25-27/15 at Ben and Cathy's lovely home. A GPS is definitely handy anywhere in Hawaii and led us right to their driveway. We had the first bedroom atop the short flight of stairs with a big ceiling fan and cross ventilation. Great big shower in our private bathroom and lots of space to lay out clothing... More

We stayed in February for a split stay--Saturday and Sunday night, then Thursday and Friday night. Makaleha Bed and Coffee was our home base while we backpacked the Kalalau Trail and it was perfect for us. Ben & Cathy were very gracious in letting us split our stay, hold our luggage while we were backpacking and letting us mail a... More

We stayed in the Mauka room at Makaleha Bed & Coffee in late May, 2015. Everything about this place was wonderful, but we loved the room, the lanai outside the lunge, and the view the best. An easy drive to Kapa'a and an excellent base for exploring the island. Ben and Cathy were very helpful and provided tons of useful... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Makaleha last April and we could not have had a better time. The view out of the back of the house is so lush and beautiful, and the house itself was perfectly set up for a non-intrusive, yet welcoming stay. But by far the best part of the property was the hosts. Cathy and... More

Great place with a beautiful view of the mountains with waterfalls in the distance. Very convenient location to explore the whole island (inland a couple of miles from Kapaa) and very reasonably priced. The young couple Ben & Cathy made us feel right at home & mostly left us alone so that we could enjoy the quiet & peacefulness of... More

Based on my 4 years old experience we had no doubt where to stay on Kauai for our next trip. We even adjusted the originally planned dates to be able to stay at Makaleha, because it was worth it. This time there were 4 of us and again it was unforgettable experience. I would repeat myself writing that the place... More

Cathy and Ben were such gracious hosts. They were so friendly and welcoming, and their helpful hints and fun suggestions were greatly appreciated! The house itself was in a nice, neighborhood set apart from the slightly busier downtown area, allowing for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere (yet close enough for a quick drive down to the beach). The two guest rooms... More
