Such an amazing week we just spent in beautiful Kaua'i-- made all the more enjoyable with this perfect home away from home. Already missing my mornings spent sipping tea on the porch while taking in the beauty of the Makaleha mountains. After a little rain, waterfalls are visible flowing down the cliff side. Incredible!! Comfortable room, relaxed atmosphere-- great common... More

My wife and I wanted to have a local feel to our low budget Hawaiian vacation. Makaleha Bed and Coffee proved to be exactly what we needed! I say "low budget", but this felt more like an extravagant holiday in Cathy and Ben's home. There's a completely separate entrance for the two available rooms with an amazing amount of common... This was our first time to Kauai and this was ideal for our stay. We had family staying on the south side of the island, and this location allowed us to tour the north, south, east, and west and still visit with family on the south side of the island in the evening. Depending upon the type of traveler you... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here. We met both Cathy and Ben who were very available if you needed them but never intrusive. (They live in the main house which is part of, but separate from - if that makes sense - the guest accommodations) Great hosts. There is a very large downstairs area which has the kitchen and... We thought that the grounds and other houses on the street were beautiful. We appreciated the laundry facilities and used them to clean our towels and other sweaty clothes. When we arrived the whole place was very dark. We wrote the owners and suggested that some motion sensor lights at the garage, the patio and outside the units would be... More

Aloha Janet & Allen, Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback, and your patience and understanding while we were off island. Our main purpose is to make our guests feel at home in our home, and we sincerely apologize we did not accomplish this for you. For the majority of the year, the temperature on Kaua’i is very pleasant,... More

We had both rooms that are located up the stairs. We were unable to meet the owners as they were out of town but we had a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and were neatly decaorated. There was also a dressing to store clothes which was good since the rooms aren't that big. Nevertheless, there are a lot of... More

My husband and I stayed at the Makaleha Bed & Coffee for 6 nights in summer 2014. After comparing what it would have cost to stay at a bigger hotel/resort, and then looking the condition of available rentals through VRBO or AirBnB, we chose the Makaleha B&C for it's sleeker/modern/very clean look, for its very reasonable rate of $100/night, and... Spent three nights June 25-27/15 at Ben and Cathy's lovely home. A GPS is definitely handy anywhere in Hawaii and led us right to their driveway. We had the first bedroom atop the short flight of stairs with a big ceiling fan and cross ventilation. Great big shower in our private bathroom and lots of space to lay out clothing... More

We stayed in February for a split stay--Saturday and Sunday night, then Thursday and Friday night. Makaleha Bed and Coffee was our home base while we backpacked the Kalalau Trail and it was perfect for us. Ben & Cathy were very gracious in letting us split our stay, hold our luggage while we were backpacking and letting us mail a... More

We stayed in the Mauka room at Makaleha Bed & Coffee in late May, 2015. Everything about this place was wonderful, but we loved the room, the lanai outside the lunge, and the view the best. An easy drive to Kapa'a and an excellent base for exploring the island. Ben and Cathy were very helpful and provided tons of useful... More
