I just spent two weeks there with my wife and we had a great experience. I really cannot understand the negative reviews people have given this hotel. Yes, it is old and plain and very basic. If you are used to resorts and fancy amenities you shouldn’t consider this place. If you are looking for a place where you can... more

Danger - this place has terrible customer service and unhealthy conditions. Our flight was delayed past the 10pm inter-island flight deadline, thus we didn't know we were going to miss our hotel reservation until 10pm. Even though we called that night, the manager and the online booking company wouldn't give us any compensation because we didn't follow the "cancellation policy".... more

Stayed at Kauai Sands Hotel for three nights end of May 2009 with daughter and grandson. Found room to be immaculately clean, right on beach, great pool, quiet, near restaurants, TV, easy parking...and quite reasonably priced, under $90 and some rooms priced near $70, what more could you want. This not the Weston or Four Seasons so don't expect to... more

Oh well... you cant expect much for what youre paying. Ive stayed there for 4 days by myself and have to make some comments; First I think people that say here that the hotel look from the 70's are beein VERY generous. Once you see the phone in the room, you will understand what Im talking about. The decor, the... more

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in May 2009. My worst complaint is just it's appearance. Once you get over the initial shock that it is OLD, the place is great. The room was spacious and clean. Ours had a dorm size fridge which was so nice to put lunchmeat for sandwiches and drinks in to keep... more

My partner and I stayed here 3 nights on our two weeks stay in Kauai. The first night because it was a good deal and later when I got really sick, we came back because the price is right and it is clean, we felt safe there, the ac worked and the staff was friendly. If you are getting in... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Kauai Sands Hotel for a week and thought it was a great hotel. Althogh a bit dated, we found the 'old Hawaiian feel' cozy. We arrived around 8pm to check in, and the lady at the check in counter was very pleasant and helpful - offereing us some great ideas for places to... more

Great central location gives you access to the west, east, and north shore, all within about an hour's drive. It was raining our first couple of days and since it's not a lavish room for hanging out in, we headed west, where the sun was shining brightly. If you're on your honeymoon, spring for a nicer place. Otherwise, you're not... more

Not much to say but it was clean and not a bad place to stay in. It felt like i stepped back into the 80's as soon as i stepped into the room from all the furniture to the shag carpet. If you are looking for a place to crash in, this is it, but if you require all the... more

Overall I had a decent stay at the Kauai Sands from 3/18 to 3/25. I had stayed there in November of 2005 and paid around $100 a night and had a pretty good time. I paid $66 a night this time on only 4 days notice. The people at the front desk were pretty nice and switched me from a... more
