Lily pad has beautiful woodwork and is like living in the treetops. Great lanai overlooking a lily pond that has ducks and blooming lilies. The trees outside are blooming, and the birds flit between the trees and lanai. You can lay in bed and see the mountains beyond the bamboo, palms and blooming trees. The kitchen includes a two burner... More

If you're looking for fun & frolic with lively entertainment, PLEASE, look elsewhere. You'll hate it, and your neighbors probably will be annoyed... HOWEVER, if you've always wanted to experience living the beautiful sights and sounds of nature at tree level, this rental is just what you're looking for! This was my first "real" (more on that below) stop after... More

We stayed at Lily Pad Studio in mid-October 2013. The location is perfect -- nestled above a lily pond, away from the hubbub of the beach but still walking distance, and a few minutes away by car from Hanalei and Princeville. Views from our room and deck were wonderful, looking south at the lush mountain-scape or down to the lily... More

What a wonderful find! We were amazed by the views, the accommodations, the architecture and details were phenomenal. I felt as though I were in Jurassic Park, and came to find out later, that the movie was largely filmed in the same valley. This place is in the Hawaiian image I imagined and looked for during the long process of... More

We stayed in the Dawn Studio for 2 weeks in July 2013. Booking this was extremely easy and Leslie was very easy to communicate with via email. The location is fantastic for access to North Shore beaches. Everything you could want is there after a long day of hiking or swimming. They have truly though of everything from beach toys... More

Lovely accommodation and view. But not worth it. If you want any sleep this is not for you. It's absurdly loud! The barking dogs and locals are nothing compared to the nasty bullfrogs, that continually croak from dusk until dawn. They were extremely loud and sounded like horns, geese or donkeys an inch from your ear. Six continuous seconds of quite... More

We offer a nature retreat, and sometimes the frogs are silent and sometimes they are "in season". There are two kinds, with different cycles and propensities. Obviously other guests didn't experience what this guest did, and we are sorry he was unable to sleep. One thing we can do is weed edges of pond more closely when we notice they... More

Unlike others, we had no problems booking our room. When we arrived, (it's fairly easy to find, if you go by Ray's directions) it looked quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Ray was very sweet and easy to talk to. Our room (the Lily Pad) was great! The views from the balcony were spectacular and we woke up to huge rainbows outside... More

We have ceiling fans, and unlike south shore, it is not hot on north shore. We have quilts on beds and offer extra blankets and some people need these, particularly in winter. The trade winds come from East, and keep it cool on North Shore. I'm always amazed that on south side I can sleep without any sheet at all,... More

Our eight night reservation for the Dawn Studio at Rainbow Views (12/23/10 to 12/31/10) was canceled less than one week before we were to leave Virginia for our vacation in Hawaii. I was notified by Ray, the web master/property manager who, by the way, lives in New Zealand, that I should immediately seek new accommodations for my visit in Kauai... More

What a poor sport this guy was and so unreasonable! It wasn't nice for us to have to cancel business either. It was an emergency and I was being honest that it was a bummer, because it was. Somehow this guy thinks we should pay the difference for whatever choice he made in a new accommodation. Emergencies happen. We lost... More

My wife and I just stayed at the Lily Pad for our Honeymoon. I highly recommend the Lily Pad if it is just for two! The views out of the studio are amazing, the windows look out on the mountains and there are no neighbors to be seen through any window. One note, this is a very cool private residence.... More

First the good stuff: After researching places to stay in Kauai on the beautiful north shore, we chose to stay away from condos and resorts. We wanted privacy, quiet, and a view that was close to good hiking and snorkeling. We found it online with Rainbow Views and its Lily Pond Studio. When we finally got there we were delighted... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
While most accommodations are within condo complexes, this is a uniquecustom home with self-contained room for couple or small family. Thus we are affordable, without being generic. The home is actually luxurious, spacious, with real materials like real wood and real travertine floors and granite counters. The surroundings are a surreal collage of green tropical abundance and tropical fruit. If you like retreats in nature, you will love place, and it is close to town and best beaches. ... more   less
