I read the reviews here before I reserved a week at the Hale Makai Cottages, so I'm going to try to be very specific about the details that no one else mentioned. There are 5 cottages. #2 and #3 are the closest to the ocean. #1 and #4 are slightly back, but still have ocean views, and #5 is the... more

We booked at last minute trip to Kauai and thought it would be fun to try something different for a change. The property location and the cottage was very nice, however the customer service was very sad. One would expect that if you are willing to pay top dollar you should receive excellent service. We had a difficult time just... more

Wow! What an amazing place to spend our first week together as a married couple. We stayed in cottage #3 and had an amazing view of the ocean from sunrise to sunset. We felt like we had the place to ourselves, and rarely saw the other guests staying in the other 4 cottages. To our delight, we found that the... more

We had a great time here. The cottage was right on the beach so several times we made meals at the cottage and ate right on the beach. It was great to be able to hear the beach and watch the sun rise when we woke up in the morning. The cottage was newly remodeled and had everything we needed.... more

The place is beautiful - we stayed in cottage 4; location-wise, there's hardly a difference among them - and well reflected by the website. One settles right in to the beauty of the north shore of Kauai, here. (A few things to know for the trip: no laundry here, no dresser for clothes.) Other than that, enjoy paradise! more

We took a pre Holiday trip with two other couples to Kauai and stayed at the Hale Makai Cottages in Haena. The cottages are tucked away within a residential neighborhood on a beautiful and carefully attended to beach front property. The cottages are kept very clean and feel very cozy and private. They have stone floors, beautiful bathrooms, elegant and... more

My family and I stayed at Hale Makai cottages in July 2007. we've been to Kauai before, and stayed at several nice places, including the Princeville resort, but Hale Makai was definitely our favorite. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip, but i did have a few problems. The Good - We stayed in cottage 3, a 1 bedroom, and it... more

Beautiful setting, gorgeous cottage, very relaxing, a real little hidden paradise in a beautiful part of Kauai. We stayed in Cottage number 2 and it was the best cottage to stay in (in our opinion, due to the location nearest the water). Our bedroom looked right on to the water as did our living room and lanai. What was great:... more

My husband and I stayed 7 nights at Hale Makai Cottages in the second week of October. We stayed in Cottage #4. Overall, the cottage is very nicely situated on Kepuhi Beach but the entire experience with the cottage falls just short of expectations. Overall Experience Dealing with Hale Makai: The one thing that made me quite angry was Hale... more

We just got back from our stay at Hale Makai Cottages and loved it. We went there for a quick break to try and relax for a couple of days. And it was fabulous. We stayed in Cottage #5, it was very spacious and clean,. The bathrooms were excellent, beautifully done, spa-like showers, the energy in the place was very... more
