First, Joe is the best host in the world. Imagine a dear friend inviting you to spend the weekend at his home and just chilling out with no obligation to socialize. That's Mahina Kai. I felt guilty asking for anything, because he went way beyond what you would ever expect. For instance, we asked to borrow some windex so we... More

What can I say? This place is simply wonderful. Joe was born to own a B&B and couldn't be a better host. The home is large and spacious, and the accommodations are splendid. You have plenty of space to do your thing, but all the social aspects of a B&B are right there. Great pool and hot tub, a short... More

This is our second stay at the Mahina Kai B and B. We first came here in 2009 and hoped to return some day to the beautiful Island of Kauai. The Mahina Kai resort is a special oasis of coconut palms, a beautiful swimming pool and hot tub, and tropical flowers mixed in with the charm and southern hospitality of... More

We found this place through a friend who knows the owner and highly recommended it for our Hawaiian vacation. It was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge after the rat race we live in in NYC and even a few crazy days in Honolulu. It's secluded and rustic, which is exactly what I wanted. Admittedly, we were... More

My husband and I chose Mahina Kai for our honeymoon and we extremely pleased. Joe treated us like family and provided us with great information, hospitality, and fun! We booked the Garden Room and loved it's quietness. The room sports a pretty open air bathroom/shower that looked out to our garden space. We also stayed in the Kai Suite for... More

Thanks to our American friends I got to see and learn about the holder and the B&B located on the island of Kauai (Hawaii). The small but delightful resort is built in the middle of all vegetation, but near the sea that can be seen from the resort itself. Set in a non-traditional rooms without exterior walls open for true... More

We just finished up a week-long stay at the Mahina Kai, short one day (darn you Hurricane Iselle!). It was really pleasant and embodied what must be the island's unofficial motto, "Slow Down." And since you can't drive completely around the island, it was very conveniently located for going either North or South to the sites and beaches. It's also... More

We visited Mahina Kai B & B before same-sex marriages were legal there. We found it to be a perfect hideaway with a beautiful Asian flair. Our hosts were very kind and helpful with suggestions as where to dine and spend our time. We truly enjoyed our experience on Kauai, thanks to our wonderful hosts!

Joe was a great host and the area was just what we wanted-away from big chains and lots of stores. While the weather was similar to Seattle, Wa we had some gorgeous days in the North part of the island and other parts were not far away driving wise. Note that you are sharing space with nature you may have... More

I was looking for a place to stay while in Kauai for a few days to take care of some personal business and what I got was a warm welcome, a peaceful surrounding, and pampering from Joe. This could not have been a better experience! If you are looking for a 5-star resort with high-end amenities and fancy restaurants and... More
