This was my 3rd visit to the Hawaiian Islands and 2nd to the Big island, this Resort was just right, walking distance to Restaurant and shops, had a tour of the Island, which included the Volcano National Park, the Kona Coffee Plantation, the Confectionary Shop in Hilo and on the return stopped at the Macadamia factory, in the afternoon before... I was looking late for a trip to the Kohala Coast for the month of December and most places were already booked or too expensive. I came across Shores, Villa 17 through Waikoloa Realty which has several rentals to offer. I emailed Peggy Kruithof at Waikoloa Realty to ask about the unit. She was very forthcoming. It is an older... More

Overall, a fairly good place. Friendly staff. Upgraded us readily from a one-bedroom condo to a 2-bedroom. Beautiful natural setting. Great balcony overlooking pool. Concierge services quite limited however. Cleanliness of the condo also only marginal (dusty in places and had to kill a cockroach in the kitchen).

We just spent the Christmas holiday at this condo and had the most amazing family vacation ever! The staff was accommodating and very friendly. The gated community made us feel quite safe. The amenities were awesome and very well maintained with perfectly manicured grounds. The pool was a nice size, great hot tub, and very clean. Unit 136 has two... More

Loved this resort. Large and clean apartment. Privacy and security. Nice pool and hot tub. Good service. Get an apartment on the 3rd floor. Our apartment was on the first floor and we could hear the people above us stomping day and night! Maybe not their fault. Low quality construction....

The Shores at Wailokoa was an easy, 20 minute drive from the airport. The resort was close to many golf courses, a very nice beach/park and the King and Queen shopping centres . The grounds were more than beautiful and we felt very safe both day and night, there was an amazing pool and spa area - (that could use... More

Our second time in The Shores. At the beginning I was really looking forward to come back to this place as the property has its own charm. Mediterranean style condos with kitchen and big lanai. The view is more or less either ocean or mountain side (Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa). Waikoloa is a nice place about 25 miles north... More

We stayed here during our Christmas vacation last year. We had 3 rooms booked, 2 on the ground floor and 1 on the second and they were all pretty well taken care of and clean. There were a few things that were missing from ours, like a broom and a blender, but we just went to the office and they... More

Aloha Cody P, Thank you for your repeat business and kind review. The fact that you return is such a great endorsement for us - we really appreciate your support. At The Shores the rooms are divided horizontally - if you do not have a top floor you might have some intrusion from above. What you experienced sounds like an... More

We stayed there 10/31/15 to 11/06/15. Scenery is nice. Away from crowds. Beautifully landscaped. Our unit is just beside a golf course and we had a nice beautiful view from there. Tranquil no noise. Very good for family vacation. Mosquito repellent is a must. Very near shopping mall.

Aloha Helenthedoctor, Thank you very much for your business and kind review. I am so sorry about the mosquitos - we have an intense program in place (including planting plants that repel them (like citronella) and spraying the ones that need a harmless insect pesticide) to keep them away. This will pass as we have had an unusually wet summer.... More

Wonderful place for family vacation. Safe, clean, lovely,etc... We've been going here for years. If you want flashy spenders and night clubs - not the place. If you want to never have to drive, enjoy beautiful views, shop, beach, swim, play tennis & golf, eat yummy food, etc... this is the spot.
