Really loved staying at the Volcano Cottages Bed & Breakfast. Have stayed in a number of B&B's in the 'States and they provide a superb contrast to the "Glass & Chrome" of the big hotels that may have more facilities, but can be short on the atmosphere. Garrett was superb. He was like out personal travel guide for the area.... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for taking the time to write such kind words. We are located in the Village which is rather quaint, thus not a lot of selection for eating or groceries. We are sorry you didn't enjoy the fresh fruit. The Ohelo Berry Cottage does not afford any cooking so the breakfast is limited to what can be... More

What else can I say but it was great. If you’re seeking for a lovely quiet place with a lot of privacy, which is spotlessly clean, you’ll find it here. The owners do their best to help you, Garret was really supportive and gave us great advice and detailed information about the area and the whole Big Island. It's rare... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for your nice review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay, wishing only to have stayed longer. Garret loves to share the island and does an amazing job with help from your "must see or do list". It is quite a passion with him as you mentioned The whirlpool does have that affect on people, it... More

Just a minute from the park entrance. Quiet setting, gracious hosts. Garrett was like having your own personal guide, each day sitting down and coming up with an itinerary of things to see, hikes to take, etc. -- even for the rest of our trip afterwards. A big plus was the dehumidifier which made us much more comfortable, no mold/mildew... More

Aloha and so happy you enjoyed all Garret's guidance. He loves to share and it shows. Wi-fi does not like to go around buildings or through trees. . . what are you going to do? It is available in and around the office 24/7 and is free of charge. The Ohelo Berry Cottage is for those who wish for a... More

We stayed at Volcano Country Cottages for 3 days beginning of April 2015. Loved every minute of it. The location is ideal just outside the Volcanoes National Park. We stayed in The Artist's House. Garret and Sandy are great hosts and Garret is a wealth of knowledge of the island. He gave us great tips on visiting the Volcanoes National... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for your kind words! We are happy you found our location to be of great advantage and that Garret was able to provide useful advice both for your time here and in Kona. Unfortunately with the gardens, seclusion of the cottages and distance from the office, wi-fi is best accessed in or near the office, you... More

There was nothing not to like about this lovely B and B. We stayed in February only for one night and that was a big mistake...... we wish we could have stayed longer! Everything was lovely, the cottage, the gardens and of course the hot tub!! Garret and Sandy are such warm and welcoming hosts and provided us with excellent... More

Aloha and mahalo nui loa for all your kind words. We appreciate that you took the time to review us as well. Yes, one night usually isn't long enough, but realize that time is limited so many must move on. Good to hear that you enjoyed the Lava Rock, we will have to try their burger! The Cafe Ohia is... We stayed here for 10 nights at the end of February 2015 while visiting our family who were living nearby while doing volcanic research. Our cottage was roomy, immaculately presented and very well equipped, including a heater for the chilly nights at that time of year at 4000 ft height, and all that one needed in the kitchen. The system... More

Mahalo nui for your kind words and for taking the time to review our place. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and that the breakfast worked well for you. I am a bit late in reviewing this but better late than never. We visited Volcano Country Cottages for 2 days in late April 2014 and it was myself, my mum and sister. Volcano Country Cottages were very cute little houses, with an absolutely beautiful garden. The house does not have a TV which was fine for us as we... More

Although this recommendation is a little late in getting posted, I'm now surrounded by snow thinking of our Hawaii vacation and the wonderful time we spent at Volcano Country Cottages. After arriving after dark and winding our way back to our cottage, we didn't know what to expect in the morning. What a wonderful surprise to find our cottage surrounded... More

we stayed in the Artist Cottage, 2 couples, 2 rooms, shared bathroom and living room. Lovely up in the trees experience, charming host, great gardens to walk through. Clean, very comfortable bed, with fleece sheets for the cool night.

Aloha and so glad you took the time to review our place. Mahalo for your kind words. Many have commented the Artist's House was like staying in a treehouse. . . Mahalo for taking the time to review our little piece of paradise. We are always pleased to hear that someone has enjoyed our property. The Artist's House was built in the mid-1940's so it does have that "grandma's house" feel to and a bit of the old Hawaii feel as well. It is great for two singles because you do... More
