We just returned from a three day stay at Volcano Country Cottages. We're retired travel often and found the cottages delightfully clean and sparkly. Sandy was very helpful with detailed information on when and what to visit at the volcano. Since we enjoy preparing our own breakfast at home it was wonderful to cook the provided eggs our way, fresh... More

The Artists. House was a perfect place to spend three nights while we showed a friend com NJ all the wonders of Volcano. It was clean, cozy, comfortable... Bring your own food or eat out, your choice. Complimentary breakfast goodies every day, fresh eggs, milk, juice, fruit, homemade cake... Pam and Garrett have created a magical place!

Volcano Country Cottages. Should I keep this property a secret like a flyfisher keeping a winning fishing hole secret? This one is a keeper. Location, proprietors and facilities are all top rated. Problem is the limited number of cottages (4) and their uniqueness makes me want to keep the property a secret for friends and family. Except that would not... More

Aloha and mahalo for not keeping us a secret! We appreciate the thought though as it is nice to "know" there's room when you are ready to visit. So glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the recycling and the photovoltaics. It has certainly been a plus for us and the island! We keep several games and CDs at each... More

When we arrived at this tropical paradise, we were greeted by Garret who gave us a tour of the very clean Artist's Cottage (2 bedrooms) and the beautiful grounds. Garret helped us plan our visit and knows so much about the island. He and Sandy are the nicest people you will ever meet! The cottage was very comfortable, plenty of... More

After several visits to Volcanoes National Park, we have finally learned that it's much easier to stay a couple of nights near the park rather than drive down from Kailua-Kona and back in a single day. This year, having found Volcano Country Cottages, I'd have to say it was one of our favorite parts of our trip. We stayed in... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for your kind words. We certainly enjoyed having you visit and are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Garret does do an amazing job of helping direct folks to the places they want to see. He does what Sandy calls "twenty questions" before he starts with help on any itinerary. Of course we are not offended if... More

We spent a glorious 5 days in Volcano, and used the Artist's Cottage as our base for exploring the east side of the Big Island. Sandy and Garret really are the shining stars of this property, helping us plan our visit to Volcano National Park - what to see when in order to take advantage of the weather and to... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for such a nice review! We do love to share the island and are always willing to help with advice for sites and scheduling so you see what you want. If I could give 10 stars I would! Garret and Sandy are the most perfect hosts and really make you feel at home. Their property is really special. Mahalo for your kind words! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the hot tub and the "glow" in the park. We are glad you found our central location to be an advantage for exploring the island. Though the kitchen has just the basic utensils, it's good to know you were able to use and enjoy it. We look forward... More

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. When we arrived in Hilo it was raining and as we drove we weren't sure what to expect as it was as miserable as the UK. But these cottages offer a tranquil hideaway of your own and a great base for exploring this side of Big Island. We were made to feel... More

Aloha and mahalo nui for your kind words. We do our best to help provide a peaceful and restful place for our guests, sounds like we succeeded. We do get plenty of rain (we are in a rainforest) but you are just minutes from the Kau Dessert. There are many micro climates and Garret is usually successful at pointing you... More
