The bamboo room was recently remodeled and overall it was good. Construction was going on at the time and the last step to get to the room was high. Breakfast offered was flavored instant oatmeal and coffee. The fruit truck hadn't made it by, so we passed and ate at the Volcano House which was a good move.

Booked our stay on a whim!! Pleasantly surprised on arrival given the budget pricing! Of the three properties advertised Volcano Hale, private rooms/shared bathrooms was the right choice for us! We had a quaint room, in this lovely historic home. The kitchen was a plus, gas stove top that appeared brand new, micro, two coffee makers, wow! every thing we... More

I booked one night in this chalet through expedia. We were basically looking for a place to sleep before going to the National Park next day. Driving through Volcano at night was quite an experience. Due to the intense temperate rain forest it is not a dense urbanization but houses are spread out and there is little light. We arrived... More

We booked a room with shared bath. We were not told when we booked that this hotel actually has at least 3 different properties, spread out over the town. Our group was put in two different properties. We had one vehicle and the properties were about a mile apart. We ended up in Volcano Hale. Do not stay here! The... More

After a long day trip I was extremely tired and just wanted to have some good sleep. I am not sure why they designed the house like that, but for my room, there is the public bathroom at one side, kitchen at the other side and the dining room is right in front of my room. When I got there... More

I found this place at the last minute when I discovered that my week of commitments in Honolulu had turned into two days. It's one of several rooming houses rented out of Chalet Kilauea, and it's about a half-mile walk to the office, and their breakfast service, and amenities like the jacuzzi they advertise. However, it has its own well-equipped... More

Located very near the Kilauea crater. Very friendly staff. Rooms are small but the location will force you to keep on traveling around the incredible landscape. So it will serve only for an overnight stay. Shared kitchen, with facilities where you can prepare food, good parking. Everything very clean.

My wife and I are from New York and we are spending the winter in Hawaii. We decided to spend a couple of days in the Volcanoes National Park and booked the Hapu'u Forest Bungalow at the Volcano Hale (Chalet Kilauea Collection). We usually stay in 5-star hotels or resorts like Relais & Chateaux or Aman and so it was... More

This house has 9 bedrooms and 3 shared bathrooms over 3 floors. My room was on the top floor. This was my second stay here; last time I was on the ground floor which was fine but this room was much nicer. On the middle floor there is a kitchen with a large refrigerator and an area with a large... More

Stayed 2 nights in the Ohia room at Volcano Hale. As mentioned in other reviews, several properties within a few blocks are rented out of one office. You check in at the office, and get directions to your suite. The room was very quaint, exactly as pictured on the website. One bathroom on upper floor, shared between two rooms (there... More
