The accommodations here are great for friends and family. The location is great to go to the volcano park and the many activities. Make reservations for dinner it is worth it in this cozy environment. The staff was friendly and dinner served timely. Your bottle of wine is not allowed- select from the house menu. Nice list not too extensive.... More

Mahalo for your Review. In the best of scenarios, I recommend that visitors stay at least 2 nights as there is much to see and do in Volcano. Many hurry back to their Kona accommodations and tell me they wished they'd booked a longer stay. It is a Big Island and has so much to experience. aloha Lorna More

We stayed 3 nights here while visiting and exploring Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea Lodge is in Volcano village, just a few miles from the park headquarters and Kilauea caldera. Our room was small but nice, and had a large bathroom/shower. The grounds are lovely, the jacuzzi nice after a day of hiking in the park, and the restaurant at... More

Visited with wife and brother...both rooms were spacious, clean, charming and full of Aloha. We had a delightful dinner of Mahimahi, scampi, and a polenta. Each of us raved. Staff was fun personable. Breakfast is included and try the French toast choices...superb. Break away from the big hotels and enjoy this excellent lodge.

Mahalo! Thank you for noticing the "Hawaiian charm". Often interior design looks to me like it could be anywhere on the planet. My goal to create a Hawaiian sense of place... You "got it". yay!! aloha Lorna More

We stayed in a one bedroom cottage with an open fire and loved it. Very clean and comfortable set in gorgeous gardens. We even had a friendly cat come to say hello. Just a short walk to the 'shops' in volcano. I am not sure if you could call Volcano a town as there isn't much there but the Lodge... More

I stayed at Kilauea Lodge 20+ years ago and loved it. Happily, my return trip with my soon to be husband was even better. The Lodge is beautifully located in Volcano, just minutes from the entrance to the national park. The grounds of the property are like a botanical garden. Bird songs serenade the guests starting before dawn. The front... More

1. No ice. We had to leave our drink outside to keep cold. Bring your own cooler. 2. Unless your neighbor is conscious people, you hear door shutting noise. 3. Stray cat can wake you up 3 in the morning. 4. Shower - I understand they want to save water. But too much air in water so you end up... More

We just stayed here a few days before Christmas. This was our 3rd time staying at the Kilauea Lodge and it was just a great as we remembered it. Not super fancy but I love the fact that there are no TVs in the room and you can really just unwind and relax. A super short drive to the volcano... More

We have tried to keep distractions to a minimum so families can hear early morning and early evening birdcalls from native apapane and elepaio. When we moved in 1987 from O'ahu, it took me time to hear the birdcalls, so used to Honolulu city traffic that I was. I'm pleased you noticed. We leave super fancy for the wonderful resorts... More

This review is for the restaurant at the lodge. We had dinner at Kilauea Lodge as part of a group, and WOW! The ambience, food and service at the Kilauea Lodge restaurant were just perfect for a cold and drizzly evening. They served freshly baked bread, home made soups, and locally sourced salad, fish and steaks prepared in a European/Hawaiian... More

We were off the beaten path (old volcano road) and drove by. It was lunch time, so we stopped in. Excellent food and choices!!! A very pleasant surprise. I highly recommend this place to anyone going to volcanos national park. we didn't have desert, but people near us did, and they looked excellent.

I'm so glad you "went off the beaten path" and found us. Yes, we are off Hiway 11 in Volcano Village. Take a left on Wright road if coming from the Park or a right on Wright road if coming from Hilo side. This is the old hiway that existed when I was a kid...Mamalahoa Hwy. a mouthful...now called Old... More
