We loved every minute of our stay at Volcano Artist Cottage. The setting is serene, lush and beautiful. The landscaping is artistic and inspired. It's such a pleasure to wander through the gardens, which are tropical and very art-inspired. Owner (an artist himself) Ira Ono is an expert at making one feel at home. The cottage is cozy and comfy... More

The cottage within Volcano Garden arts is truly enchanting. The cottage is as cute and cozy as can be with a galley kitchen, dining area, queen size bed and oversize bathroom (great shower) and hot tub. My husband and I spent 1 night in early July. Breakfast was provided, homemade banana bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, granola, everything you need... More

My husband and I spent two nights here over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is quite small (although the bathroom & shower are gorgeous and huge) but the setting is beautiful. The grounds are a work of art themselves with a tree-enclosed "room" and several meditation areas (and a rescued goat!). The works of art for... More

Bob and Bonnie were VERY gracious hosts!!! The extras they provided made our dream vacation relaxed and stress free. We especially appreciated their input on excursions dinner locations and other "must see" options. It's so nice to know that innkeepers really care!! They made it obvious. Aloha!! Couldn't say it any better!!!

I could probably write a book about this place, but I'll try to keep it informative. All the reviews you have read about this place (and I've read most of them) are pretty true. I'll start with the bedroom. Where the bed is the size of, well, the size of the bed. The bed is in an alcove and against... More

My sense of how much you will enjoy this cottage will depend upon how long you stay and how the weather is when you are there. The good: The location is perfect for day trips to the Park - and go after dark to see the glow of Pele! The grounds and the gallery are wonderful. Waking up to the... More

In response to this review I would like to explain that this is a historic property built in 1908 and lovingly restored to bring it up to date. This cottage was the original caretaker’s cottage and I wanted to keep the original charm while retrofitting with modern conveniences such as the Zen bath and modern kitchenette. For guests staying more... More

This place was perfect. Ira is a wonderful host. It's a small cottage located on a property that has an art studio, a cafe, a gift shop and beautiful gardens. At night we were the only ones around so it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. The cottage is well appointed and it is clear that Ira put a lot of... More

You get an immediate sense of serenity when you enter the grounds, and then the cottage. Everything except the bathroom (ample with walk-in tiled shower) is miniaturized, but the cottage is very well appointed. The kitchen window frames a photo-like view of lush tropical foliage. Although you may feel like Gulliver in the land of the Liliputans, the attention to... More

This place is located about 4 miles from the national park, making it ideal for traveling to the volcano at night. We stayed in a cozy cottage built in 1908. The owner cared for every detail needed to make our stay comfortable, including a lovely breakfast and a well-stocked refrigerator. The room was filled with memorabilia and artwork. The only... More

We were delighted by the aesthetics and the attention to detail of this delightful little artist's cottage. It was the perfect little quiet hideaway, surrounded by a lovely garden, away from the road, and as restful as it's photos suggest. In the small living area is a comfy chair and kitchen table with two chairs. The window displayed a magnificent... More
