My now wife and I arrived here after a long wedding day, long flight and long drive. We were met by Ira and instantly felt like we were at home. Great host and gave us a nice introduction to the cottage and property. The cottage was lovely and cozy. If you have too many bags it could get a bit... More

The tiny cottage, with spacious bathroom addition, had everything we needed-even breakfast supplies. We loved having the garden all to ourselves in the evenings. We enjoyed exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and then coming home to soak in the hot tub under the big tree and the stars.

This cottage is owned and operated by gifted Hawaii artist Ira Ono. It is so very special to be able to stay in this amazing rainforest just outside of the park. A host of wonderful attributes include: yummy homemade treats for brekey and fresh grown island fruits, a new outdoor hot tub, a huge playful bathroom, complete kitchen, space heater... More

From the banana loaf waiting for us, to the cosy dressing gowns for the chilly mornings and the elegant flowers filling every vase, this was an ideal place to stay. We had three nights here and used it as a base for exploring the nearby sights around the volcano. Comfortable, if slightly rustic and glad we didn't have any big... More

We loved every minute of our stay at Volcano Artist Cottage. The setting is serene, lush and beautiful. The landscaping is artistic and inspired. It's such a pleasure to wander through the gardens, which are tropical and very art-inspired. Owner (an artist himself) Ira Ono is an expert at making one feel at home. The cottage is cozy and comfy... More

The cottage within Volcano Garden arts is truly enchanting. The cottage is as cute and cozy as can be with a galley kitchen, dining area, queen size bed and oversize bathroom (great shower) and hot tub. My husband and I spent 1 night in early July. Breakfast was provided, homemade banana bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, granola, everything you need... More

My husband and I spent two nights here over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is quite small (although the bathroom & shower are gorgeous and huge) but the setting is beautiful. The grounds are a work of art themselves with a tree-enclosed "room" and several meditation areas (and a rescued goat!). The works of art for... More

Bob and Bonnie were VERY gracious hosts!!! The extras they provided made our dream vacation relaxed and stress free. We especially appreciated their input on excursions dinner locations and other "must see" options. It's so nice to know that innkeepers really care!! They made it obvious. Aloha!! Couldn't say it any better!!!

I could probably write a book about this place, but I'll try to keep it informative. All the reviews you have read about this place (and I've read most of them) are pretty true. I'll start with the bedroom. Where the bed is the size of, well, the size of the bed. The bed is in an alcove and against... More

My sense of how much you will enjoy this cottage will depend upon how long you stay and how the weather is when you are there. The good: The location is perfect for day trips to the Park - and go after dark to see the glow of Pele! The grounds and the gallery are wonderful. Waking up to the... More

In response to this review I would like to explain that this is a historic property built in 1908 and lovingly restored to bring it up to date. This cottage was the original caretaker’s cottage and I wanted to keep the original charm while retrofitting with modern conveniences such as the Zen bath and modern kitchenette. For guests staying more... More
