Stayed in the largest lodge, Mauna Loa. Loved everything about this place. Restful, beautiful, a wonderful retreat after 2 days at the volcano. Staff is not on site 24 hrs, but we never wanted for anything!

My wife booked 3 nights, stayed at the Kilauea bungalow. A perfect respite from civilization. Green bamboo and fern from every window. 1 person staff, helpful and non intrusive. A personal refuge found. Close drive to Volcano National Park, and town shops.

Aloha, We appreciate your kind words. The Hale Kilauea is a popular choice for those looking for a private rainforest setting. Its' floor-to-ceiling windows provide an up close look at the last of the Hawaiian rainforest. This stand-alone cottage is nestled right into the ferns and bamboo - making for an unforgettable experience. We appreciate your recommendation that our guests... More

Wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and decorated tastefully and I. hawiian motif. The fireplace , hot tub and landscaped grounds were a plus. They management is very helpful and professional. Try to dine here too. Especially good.

Mahalo for your review. While we do not have a restaurant on our property, we do provide a breakfast meal for our guests. Located just 2 miles from the heart of Volcano Village, we are just a short drive to the local restaurants for lunch and dinner. Our Innkeepers provide a recommendation list for restaurants inside each of our guest... More

We only stayed for a night but wished it could have been more. We stayed in the Hale Kilauea room and loved how secluded it felt, nestled in amongst the forest. I would describe it as having a rustic charm, rather than being luxurious. Great location for getting to the volcano and for visiting the township. We ate dinner at... More

My husband and I loved this place as soon as we drove in! It feels very secluded, which was perfect, but is still only 10mins away from Volcanoes National Park. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, comfortable, and, most importantly, relaxed! The room appointments are beautiful - all rich wood with cozy quilts and really comfy pillows/mattresses. We... More

Aloha, Our Innkeepers are lucky enough to call this beautiful rainforest our "office", though it's hard to call it 'work' when it is so peaceful here. We are happy to hear that you picked up on the relaxing effects of the rainforest during your stay with us. A light rain on the roof, the sound of birds making songs, and... More

This was a highlight of our stay in the volcano area of Big Island. We stayed for 2 nights in the Haleakala room and it felt like we are in a different world. The ladies were very caring. We had nice breakfast in the morning. Listening to the falling rain on the rooftop overnight was so peaceful. We usually stay... More

Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your kind words. The Haleakala is an octagonal room with beautiful views of the rainforest. The natural lava rock feature behind the Haleakala room provides a unique view and reminds us that we are near an active volcano. The tall Hapu'u fern trees seen from all sides... More

I loved Volcano Village Lodge as it is unique and romantic unlike a typical hotel. The Lodge is quiet and romantic. The ladies who manged our stay were fantastic. I loved the cookies. Say HI to Gino for us.

This time we brought our children and decided to stay at Volcano Village Lodge even though the price was significantly higher than where we stayed last time. My daughter loved Gino the celebrity cat and was almost in tears when she had to tell him bye. The lodge we had was very large and very comfortable.

Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to write a review of our property. We are so glad to hear that you returned and this time brought your children. My wife wanted a treehouse experience, and while this isn't it, it's pretty close. The main window was floor to ceiling and looking out into the rain forest. There are no curtains, so that's what you saw at night and it's what you woke up into in the morning. The bed was amazingly comfortable and it had a little fireplace... More

Mahalo for your review of Volcano Village Lodge and the Hale Kilauea room! We would like to note that our Hale Kilauea (one of our most popular rooms!) is unique in that it faces out into untouched rainforest on our property. Since there are no pathways or other guest cottages on the side of this room, we have left one... More

This is my definition of a perfect romantic retreat. We stayed for a special occasion and thought the place romantic and quiet. This isn't a B&B. This is a lodge in a rainforest. Thank goodness we weren't required to dine with others. Breakfast was in our room and we loved the romance of it.

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate hearing from you! We set up breakfast individually inside each guest cottage so that our... More
