We had one of the Volcano Inn units on 2nd Avenue, and enjoyed our one night stay very much. Our unit had a kitchenette, and the trademark corner window with ferns and trees growing just outside the glass. It lacked for nothing. We did not reserve, just called that morning, since we don't like to schedule ourselves too much. I... more

We got the Volcano room, 2nd floor corner suite. Lovely lovely views, full kitchen, 3/4 bath (no tub just shower). Vaulted cielings, all wood. Beautiful room. So what's wrong? We decided to eat-in and cooked pizza. I pull out the cookie sheets, and there were still crumbs on them. Then my husband spotted a roach crawling along the counter top.... more

After reading the reviews here and seeing the pictures, I knew I would love this place, and I did. We were staying in Kona at a timeshare, but it is a 3 hour drive to the Volcano, so we needed somewhere to stay for one night. We stayed in the corner window room, Nene, surrounded by tree ferns and anthuriums.... more

We booked a two night stay at Volcano Inn & were thoroughly pleased. We had the Puepueho (sp?) Room, a corner room and enjoyed the quiet seclusion. This particular room is part of a two room building, located down a short rainforest covered path. Our room was quite adequate - queen bed, small refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster. The... more

As part of our annual vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii we enjoy visiting Volcano National Park for the great hiking trails and lava viewing when Pele is cooperating. It is truly a magical place. We base ourselves on the Kona side of the island and in the past have left very early in the morning to make the... more

We opened the door, and just stopped and said "Wow". Our room was enormous, and stunningly beautiful. It gets chilly at that elevation at night, but the electric blanket kept us nice and warm. Well-stocked full kitchen. The only downside was the sometimes sporadic availability of hot water and water pressure, presumably the result of the solar water heating system.... more

If you are planning a vacation in Hilo or volcano area - this is the place for you. Romantic and clean, very friendly and helpful staff. The staff was even gracious to answer my questions about activities in the area. We(family of 4 adults) stayed here with my sister and her husband and booked two rooms, both families were very... more

This was our 2nd time to stay at this location (the first time was over 10yrs ago). The place is quite secluded and peaceful. We stayed in the family room and had plenty of room. Probably the best thing about the place is the kitchen. Food in Volcano is EXPENSIVE. (try $8 for a half gallon of milk, $4 for... more
