Very nice, clean room (Olapa Room 3), with surroundings like a tropical rain forest. As others have stated, this is minutes away from Volcano National Park and about 35 minutes from Hilo. The only drawback was the musty smell of the room, but that is to be expected in a cool, humid location like that part of the island. The... More

We rented two of these houses for a two-week geology fieldtrip. They suited our needs perfectly. They're within minutes of Volcano National Park where we were working and are secluded and quiet which allowed us to recuperate in the evenings. Houses had everything we needed.

Location seems to be the biggest selling point for Volcano Guest House and I would agree. It's just minutes from the Park and Volcano Village. Several people have commented on the owners but we never met them as they were away on vacation when we stayed. However, they engaged a very nice young woman who checked us in and gave... More

My father and I stayed in Twin II last month. The instructions provided by the owner on how to get there were great, and the library of DVDs on offer was appreciated - the night we arrived we just wanted to collapse in front of the television. The house itself was basic, but had everything we needed. It was a... More

Rooms are well appointed but you can hear your neighbors turn in their bed. Staff at front desk not overly friedly.. Just did the minimum. Bar staff friendly but in such a great setting they could redo the decor a bit... Microwave and server station right in there...

This was a lovely, quaint place in the middle of a lush rain forest very close to Volcano Village. The flowers all around were amazing. The hot tub in an enclosed area was a delight. For breakfast, there was good coffee, fresh fruit, cereal and rolls. This was a quiet, delightful place to stay.

After 6 nights in a Kona time share, my friend and I opted to stay at Volcano House for 2 nights. this provided a balance needed when visiting Hawaii. The location is near the volcano and the cabins are rustic but complete. The property is managed with ecology in mind. Lots of recycling and solar heating. The owners have been... More

The Volcano Guest House is close to the park so very convienent. We liked the grounds, lots of plants, quiet. My husband, son and I stayed in The Cottage for two nights, it was very spacious. The rooms were clean but kind of old and worn out. The main bed in our house was very uncomfortable, it took a couple... More

My daughter and I chose the Volcano Guest House out on the internet living 2,500 miles apart. (She lives in Kailua-Kona, I live in LosAngeles, CA.) The Trip Advisor was a big help in making the perfect choice. The owners are super nice and helpful. Our Upstairs Room was as pictured only better! The pictures don't capture the roominess and... We really enjoyed our stay at Volcano Guest House. The owners were responsive to email from the very beginning, and accommodated our later check-in time. We stayed in Twin II, which was cosy, clean and equipped with everything we needed. The property was quiet and safe, and we had a lot of privacy. Breakfast was mostly self-serve, but the range...
