I stayed here for six nights during my vacation to Hawaii. It's very conveniently located near HVNP and is only a five minute drive from the park's entrance. I stayed in a private room upstairs directly above the men's bathroom. The room was very quiet, minimal noise from the coqui frogs, and no issues with loud or obnoxious fellow tenants.... More

Serenity now... This place is tucked away out the back of Volcano village... Feels like a snow cabin only there's no snow, just lava? Ha. Hostel set up is attached to a family home, owners super nice and polite, but leave you to your own devices. Spacious homely kitchen and living area, clean and neat, mattresses super comfy. Gets chilly... More

I booked into this hostel for three nights, and it is conveniently located in Volcano Village and close to the Volcano National Park. The Holoholo In is a reasonably priced option compared to other places in the area, clean and surrounded by trees. BUT, I booked and was confirmed three nights in a female dorm. The first two nights were... More

If you are into the volcano and getting out into nature during your trip to the big island stay here. 15 minutes from the Jaggar museum in Volcanoes NP. Tranquil environment in the rainforest makes it feel like you are living like a local in Hawaii. Not very busy so you may get a private room even if it is... More

My partner and I chose to stay in Volcano due to its proximity to the active areas of the Kilauea volcano. We found Holo Holo Inn by chance in a local phone book, and after reading some online reviews decided to book for one night but ended up staying for two. I would have no hesitation in recommending Holo Holo... More

A hidden gem on the island, it is a great value for budget accomodations. The owners are super friendly, the rooms and beds clean and has a very well equiped kitchen. Its very evident they run a very organized operation. The place is definitely hard to find, if you think you are lost you probably are going the right way.... More

We booked the day of our arrival and they are very kind to accept it. It's a little bit the mess outside but the room was clean. The landlord drive us until the volcano because we had no car. Finally we decided to stay one night more but all rooms are already booked so the landlords open the second building... More

We had a reservation, but on arrival we found that the first thing you see is a horrible run-down trashed out garage. The common area was horrendously dirty. The rooms and bathrooms were fair. We left. Not what you'd expect, and we got far better value elsewhere.

When we booked our stay here, we expected a cute little comfortable place. When we pulled up, that is NOT what we saw! You will think you are lost on a small, one way jungle road to no where but don't let this fool you. You are in the right place. This hostel is a family's (parents and a little... More

We visited this "hostel" 10 years ago and thought it was a good value. But 10 years later, we found the front yard messy and unkempt, a pile of dirty laundryin the hallway right outside our room, the rooms smelled of mold, and the sheets and blankets were old and threadbare. Worse of all, the noisy water pump connected to... More
