We stayed three nights at the cabin, and we could have stayed another night or two. We arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm, with rain pouring down in sheets and lightning flashing all around us. The cabin, tucked into a gorgeous lush landscape, was the perfect cosy spot to tuck in. The owners are really welcoming and informative, giving... More

I can't say enough good things about Crater Rim Cabin. It's such a comfortable place to stay and is a great place to relax, unwind, and rest after a day at VNP. Jim had the place stocked with plenty of coffee and breakfast foods and gave us some great recommendations about restaurants in the area. Though we were only there... More

We enjoyed our recent stay at Crater Rim immensely and as our host stated, we needed an extra day to fully appreciate the laid-back atmosphere. We arrived early (around lunch) and were permitted to leave our luggage while they finished the housekeeping from the previous guests' stay. We did some scouting in the area, including Volcano, for shopping and dining,... More

5 nights at the Crater Rim Cabin. Breakfast foods were waiting for us upon arrival to prepare each morning. Days were spent at Volcano National Park and lower Island attractions. Every evening, returned tired but found the cabin warmed and the electric blanket turned on to add to the coziness. This secluded cabin (or Bungalow) was charming in every way!... More

I agree with all the positive reviews of this B & B. My favorite part was the full kitchen with a stocked frig. We didn't have to dress to eat at a specific time ( as in most more "formal" B & B's). We also did not want a daily cleaning (Lordy, it was so clean already!) so we had... More

The Cabin was set in such a relaxing garden area. It was in close proximity to Volcano National Park as well as the Volcano Village for restaurants and supplies. One important amenity for us was access to internet. A business at home still needed to be run while we were on vacation. The internet worked great with out any connection... More

Crater Rim Cabin is a great place to stay and explore Volcano National Park day and night. Barry and Jim are easy to work with, and they make wonderful recommendations having been around the park and the area for 40 years. The important stuff: the cabin is great for couples with one king bed, but does have a fold out... More

Consistent with previous reviews, we found the main attraction here is the proximity to Volcano National Park, coupled with an ultra-clean cabin run by nice people who formerly worked in the laboratory at the Park. If you don't stay here in Volcano, you are probably looking at at least a 45 minute drive from Hilo, if not hours from Kona.... More

Crater Rim Cabin is a perfect spot for a couple visiting Volcano National Park. Just a few miles away from the park entrance; follow Jim's directions and maps because it could be a little tricky (hint: look for the mileage markers). Barry and Jim have created a beautiful retreat surrounded by their luxuriant gardens. The cabin is a separate building,... More

What a great place to stay while visiting the volcano area. The two owners are very accommodating. One is a geologist and one a professional photographer. The cabin is very comfortable and is close to everything. .Endangered geese across the road on the golf course, pheasants in the front yard and a rooster for an alarm clock--what more can one...
