Yowser! This was hands-down the best place we stayed in Hawai’i. The cottage was AMAZING! It was beautifully decorated, very clean, and so, so comfortable. Bathroom was awesome, and with a shower easily big enough for two. The kitchen had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, and breakfast food was provided (a great selection too – eggs, fruit, bagels, pastries, granola,... More

The Volcano Rainforest Retreat has been our highlight throughout 17 days on Maui and Big Island. Compared with our other accommodations this one is outstanding and has been one of the cheaper once. The Volcano area is fascinating and you can easily spend a few days there. After a day exploring the countryside you can't wait to get back and... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights of our honeymoon, I have never been at a more romantic place before. We stayed in the forest house and would definitely stay there again. We had a shared jacuzzi tub with one of the other houses but the owners emphasize maintaining privacy. If another couple is using the jacuzzi you... More

Like other reviewers, I have stayed at (and enjoyed the beauty of) the Bamboo Cottage. But perhaps unlike other reviewers, I've returned to stay there several times in the past decade. Also, I tend to stay longer than just a night or two. Why? Read the other reviews to find out why VRR is such a lovely spot. Then think... More

Volcano Rainforest Retreat is in a great location (5 min drive from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park). We stayed in the Sanctuary room. Be aware that there is no indoor shower but this didn't bother us, even on the cooler nights. With the sanctuary room you have access to your own private hot tub which is so relaxing. Room was very... More

This review is long overdue. My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary in August of 2013 and it's like heaven in the rainforest. The surroundings are very private, didn't see any other guest while we were there, the nightlife (nights In the rain forest) were amazing since we live in the city we certain have more... More

we stayed at the bamboo guesthouse for our honeymoon, it's really beautiful, very close to volcano national park. The breakfast is good. The place is very quiet so perfect for honeymoon but not the same if you are with friends. Great hot tube outside

We stayed in the Bamboo Guest Cottage at the Rainforest Volcano Retreat for three nights at the end of October 2014 and had a wonderful time! The grounds are very private and we didn't see any other guests while we were there (which is what we wanted) :) It was very clean and had everything that you could ask for.... More

We stayed a lot of places on our trip to Hawaii, and Volcano Rainforest Retreat was the last one before we began our trip back via Honolulu - it was probably also the best place we stayed. Set in the middle of the rainforest on a quiet street a couple of miles from the main highway, the location is perfect... More

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Volcano Rainforest Retreat, in the Forest House. We really enjoyed our stay, it was such a unique place unlike anything we'd tried. The house was secluded, and the rain drops at night and waking up to an in-room fire was just magnificent. Even more unexpected was being able to tour... More
