We stayed in the Hale Ohia cottage for 3 days. What a wonderful and welcoming cottage to come back to after a day hiking the volcano. It felt like home. Michael was so nice and full of information about the area. He provided the most delicious bread, papaya, bananas and juice for the morning. Even though I must admit some... more

Hale Ohia is such a beautiful property, in the middle of a rain forest. When it rains (daily in our case), the tin roof has a lovely sound. It was perfectly located in proximity to Volcanoes National Park. There are several really cute restaurants around. The room was extremely clean - we stayed in Cottage 44, made out of the... more

We stayed at Hale Ohia for 2 nights; in the Iiwi room, the most affordable. We booked it based on our budget, and we found it to be a great value. The location is wonderful, just minutes from the Park entrance and from Volcano Village where the restaurants are. The fresh bread and fruit for breakfast were good, and the... more

My husband and I stayed at Cottage #44 at Hale Ohia. We booked #44 specifically after reading the reviews and the pictures on their website. The cottage lived up to it's expectations and we enjoyed the fireplace and comfortable setting for reading and some relaxation. We arrived after hours, but had a chance to speak with a staff person the... more

We stayed in the Hale Lehua cottage and loved it. The cottage offers a lot of privacy and a useful small kitchen. The staff is friendly but far from overbearing. You really only interact with them when you want to. As mentioned by others, they leave breakfast in your room for you to eat at your leisure. It's small but... more

The Hale Ohia is just what we needed. We didn't want to travel from Kona to the volcano and back in one day so we booked a couple of nights at the Hale Ohia in the Hale Lehua cottage. It was comfortable with a small kitchen area, fireplace and adequate bathroom. We really enjoyed the privacy, with visits from the... more

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. We spent two nights in the Lehua Cottage at Hale Ohia. We loved the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The home-baked bread each day was a special treat -- and we could enjoy it whatever time we chose. The view from our cottage was beautiful; it was as if there was... more

We loved our stay in cottage #44 at Hale Ohia at Volcano Hawaii. It was great to relax in front of the fireplace and hear the rain on the roof of this unique cottage. It was private, comfortable and clean. The staff was professional and helpful, and even provided information at the time of our resevation, about the cottage, weather, directions,... more

Tucked just off the highway that leads to Volcano National Park, this little oasis of an inn and several cottages is truly a magnificent find. Mike and his staff are personable and gracious; the grounds are well-appointed without being stuffy; and the accommodations -- at least in our case -- were better than almost anywhere else we've stayed. Check out... more

When we were planning our three day backpacking trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park we thought a good nights sleep and a lazy morning in one of the area bed and breakfasts would be a perfect way to recuperate. I contacted a long time acquaintance who lives in Volcano Village to get a recommendation. He had great things to say... more
