As you drive up the driveway you know this is a special place. In the cool and high town of Volcano, these cottages are surrounded by rainforest and 2 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Great if you want to see the crater glowing at night. Each cottage is unique and fairly old. If you want modern, sanitised hotels, this isn't... More

We just checked in to this hotel tonight and absolutely love it. We are in the Iiwi room and it is quite large and comfortable as well as spotlessly clean. On a side note, if you are over 6'3" you will have to duck to get under a beam in the Iiwi room. Not an issue, just something to note.... More

What a magical place to stay. Grounds and accommodation are wonderful and it was great to be able to return from the park before dark with the kids, have a little dinner and then head back at night when most cars were going the other way as the had to drive back to Kona, and we just zipped in and... This was the perfect place to overnight while visiting VNP; it is very close to the park entrance which makes both day and night time viewing of the volcano quite easy. It is a charming and peaceful place. Mike is a wonderful host, and the fresh fruit, yogurt, delicious bread and juice tucked in the refrigerator provide a nice start... More

We had a wonderful 3 nights in their cottage. It has everything you could possibly need. Very quiet and secluded. There was fresh fruit and bread for our breakfast. Lovely grounds and so nice to have the hot tub. It is only a few minutes to the National Park. Very clean. Make sure you buy any groceries in Hilo or... More

We stayed here several years ago and loved it. Over the years we had limited our Volcano visits to day trips and now I wonder why! This is perfection. We arrived late but everything was ready for us. The grounds are peaceful, the birds are singing and a delightful breakfast is waiting for us in the refrigerator. What perfect privacy.... More

This is where you want to stay if you want to relax in Paradise. Very easy access to the Volcano, general store, hikes and other activities. The staff is pleasant and available when needed. This is truly a hidden gem!

Wonderful place to stay after a last minute change in my travel plans. I really appreciate Sandy helping me out when foul weather forced me (oh darn!) to stay in Hawaii for a few extra days. Minutes from Volcano National Park, but back from the road so quiet. Very quaint. Best bed I slept on my entire vacation. Only note... More

...or maybe it's just because we're tall (5'10" & 6'8", respectively). The cottages are absolutely adorable & impeccably detailed. Owned by a local architect (which helps explain the superb detailing of every nook & cranny), the property dates back to the 1930s & has been a bed & breakfast for more than 20 years. We stayed in the Ihilani cottage... More

This is a great place to stay while you are exploring Volcanoes National Park, which is just a few minutes away by car. Its an idyllic little spot with wonderful gardens and every building is beautiful. If you want take-out I highly recommend the Tuk Tuk Thai truck that parks just down the street. The internet is a bit flaky,... More
