My wife and I stayed in the Island Paradise Inn during our recent vacation on the Big Island. We hadn't intended on staying there, originally planning on camping, however we arrived into town late and it was raining, so we decided to splurge on a motel. This one was recommended in our guidebook so we decided to give it a... more

It was important to me to have an affordable, completely furnished place to stay close to Hilo. When I found Island Paradise Inn I thought it sounded perfect. Actually it turned out to be better than that. When I spoke with the Owner about the location of Pahoa and whither or not it was conveniently located to Hilo, she informed... more

Spent 3 nights at $50 each in large room w/kitchen and large bed. Centrally located w/lots to do nearby - lava viewing, tidepool snorkeling, and Pahoa nitelife. Friendly owner. At first we thought it might be noisy because its next to a 7/11, but Pahoa is such a quiet laid back town that noise was not an issue. Two thumbs... more

We have stayed with Jim and Amy two times now. Both times were great! The room is just the right size, and you have everything you could need or want. Your host's are both very willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is not going to be your last. The grounds were beautiful the first time... more

This place is a joke, poorly furnished rooms with old bedding that smells of urine. Large cock roaches and ants in and on everything. No hot water. The Inn keeper is rude and seems to think that she is a minister. The grounds look like a junk yard, just junk every where. A trailor full of trash, furniture stuck all... more

I recommend! We had booked (my boyfriend and I) another place that was supposed to be a hostel and turned out to be a camping - it was 40 dollars a night there - we saw it and left. For 50 dollars in Island Paradise Inn we had a huge bedroom a kitchen with everything you need to cook and... more

My husband, two kids and I had a very nice week long stay and would have liked to extend our vacation if we could have managed it. This place is in the middle of Pahoa so was walking distance from everything else and this made it especially nice with my very energetic boys. We spent most days driving around the... more

Island Paradise Inn is great! We were very pleasantly surprised. This is the cheapest place I found to stay on the Big Island. Spotlessly clean, well appointed, stocked with everything you need, good, friendly people. It is well worth the money. It could be quieter, but you don't expect perfection for $40 a night (even cheaper for long stays!). Pahoa... more

Do NOT stay here! This was far from an "inn," it was more like a boarding house, and a dirty one at that. The website was a total farce, all pictures were purposely misleading, and the owner made many claims that were not true. She was, of coure, very nice on the phone, but turned out to be a total... more
