Our host Petra was the best!! Every morning she helped guide us to our next "thing to see and do". The breakfast's are very good, something for everyone. We stayed in the suite upstairs and loved it. Some reviewers talked about the frogs at night - yep they sing for some time but we loved them. In the morning you... More

Petra is a wonderful host, and made us feel completely at home - giving us tips on where to eat, hike, and visit. The place is cozy and cute, and very well kept/clean, so we had an extremely comfortable stay. Breakfast is great with lots of fresh fruit, and there is a washer/dryer for use by guests. Location is ~1... More

We were looking for a place away from the crowd and this B&B has been the perfect location. It is hidden in a beautiful green estate. After busy days of sight seeing, the tranquility of the place was so welcomed. The only things that we could hear during the day or the night were the bird songs. Early walks in... More

We stayed here for four days as part of our week's visit to the Big Island. We found the welcome friendly and Petra's knowledge and suggestions very helpful. We had an early helicopter flight booked and Petra provided us a basket breakfast so that we could sort ourselves out. The only disappointing thing was the distance to the town for... More

We selected Hale Moana based on the great reviews. A few things came as surprises: 1) check in is not until 5:30PM. Check out 10:30. Petra wants people to have checked in by 7 (i.e. you have a 1.5 hour window to check in). I had thought it was 7:30, so was surprised by messages from Petra (we had no... More

We stayed a the spacious garden suite which was probably the cleanest location during our Hawaii vacation. Very well maintained!! Petra was a very nice and helpful host and her breakfast was delicious. The B&B is located in a green, lush garden close to the Hippie town Pahoa and perfect for Volcanoe explorations. When we had to leave early for... More

Wife and I stayed two nights (wish it could have been more) with Petra at her wonderful Hale Moana B&B in eary December and it could not have been better. First off the locations is not too far from the coast for easy trips back and second the grounds and rooms are kept in superb conditions. Breakfast both mornings was... More

This B & B is in a great location, only a short drive to amazing snorkeling, hiking, Kilauea, and Hilo. The rooms have their own entrances. The beautiful rain forest garden is a peaceful and relaxing experience. The breakfast was good with lots of options. Don't pass up the opportunity to visit the Hilo Coffee Mill. We thoroughly enjoyed our... More

My partner and I arrived to Hale Moana at 10pm after a long day visiting the island. While the horrible noice of the coqui frogs is not to be blamed, as we entered our small, extremely hot, old-like and dirty room we felt like going back to a back packer experience from when we were 18 than at a b&b... Aloha, I believe that this review is a mix-up and was meant for a different place. First of all, I did not have a person by this name ever stay with me here. Second, I do not have $180 per night rooms. The largest suite here is $175 per night and a two-bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining/living room, private bathroom,... More
