My wife and I stayed at Hale Moana for three nights in April and just loved it. It's really one of the nicest B&Bs we've stayed in. It's in a peaceful area, far from any city lights, so there were some beautiful dark and starry skies, but it's not far from the surprisingly good restaurants in Pahoa, or from the... More

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous B&B for 3 nights and 4 days, as part of our honemoon, and it was amazing we loved the place, sooo quiet and peaceful and Petra was amazing in giving us information on a daily basis of what to do for each day and where to eat, she is a great host!... More

We were so delighted with our stay at the Hale Moana & Petra couldn't have been a nicer hostess. We will definitely return on our next visit to the Big Island & I will refer my Gadabout Vacations clients to her at every opportunity!

It is a bit out of the way but well worth a little bit of extra time in the car. Beautiful location, welcoming host, clean comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast every morning are some of the many things we enjoyed at Hale Moana. Petra was a wonderful resource. She provided a lot of information about the area and great... More

We were in the Big Island last week (just like all of the Pacific Northwest) and we started our trip on the east side of the Island. We were wanting to go to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was a perfect location. Although it rained intermittently (and occasionally quite heavily) there were ample grounds for exploring, a trampoline and balls... More

We booked Hale Moana, as opposed to another B &B, because it's website had a list of diverse things to do with detailed directions and advice. Since we had never been to Hawaii we had no idea what to expect. It was obvious from the website that the owner would be willing to to give us tourist ideas. Petra turned... More

Beautiful, lush and expansive garden grounds, comfortable rooms (we booked the smallest room and it was just perfect for our needs), short distance to beaches and Volcano National Park and most impressive of our two night stay was the owner.. Petra. She is extremely friendly, has a wealth of local knowledge, provided directions, lent us maps, made suggestions on places... More

This B&B has extensive, beautiful grounds. The owner, originally from Germany, is friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. She makes fantastic hot breakfasts! Her banana pancakes are yummy! There is plenty of food to eat. I was upgraded to a suite that featured a full kitchen, separate living room and bedroom. It was all very clean and comfortable. The... More

For our 1st night at the Hale Moana B&B, we stayed in an upstairs suite. It was spacious and well-appointed, with a nice view over the beautiful garden. It also had a full kitchen, which, however, we didn’t use. Our subsequent 4 nights were in a “studio” just below. It was small, no kitchen and no view. The bed was... More

My wife and I were planning on spending a few days on the East (Hilo) side of the Big Island as part of our honeymoon. We were looking for a nice, quiet location that would be close to the attractions in the area. Hale Moana was just that. It is a little off the beaten path in Pahoa, but it... More
