Absolute Paradise lives up to its name for anyone open to relaxing into the experience of enjoying a wonderful laid-back visit to Hawaii based from this great location. My partner and I live in Alaska along with our high-school age daughter and college-age son; we routinely buy whatever school and/or Imperial Court fund-raising tickets the kids are selling. Last year... more

Note from Mark: Jim and I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. We met in June of 2004. When this Hawaiian trip was in the planning stages we had known each other for a short three months. I visited Hawaii many times before, most recently in January 2004. This was Jim’s first trip to Hawaii. I knew Jim well enough to know... more

My partner and I spent sixteen days in Hawaii in August of 2003 to celebrate our fiftieth birthdays. We stayed at the Absolute Paradise Bed and Breakfast in Pahoa. We loved the place. It was quiet and secluded and the view of the stars from the hot tub was breathtaking. Didier, who was one of the owners treated us like... more

My boyfriend and I spent a week in the cottage. We went to the beach each day, the pool every afternoon, and out to dinner each night. The place is just amazing. The Host can not be more helpful. Everything is spotless, the breakfast is enough so you can skip lunch, the hot tub and pool are crystal clear. We... more

Didier and Phil are great hosts. The location of their B&B, in a dryer, warm and sunny micro-climate, differs from the rainy Hilo. It rains here, too, but usually at night. So, don't let the guide books scare you away. The stars and Milky Way are spectacular, and if you know how to use it, there is a cool telescope... more

My partner and I spent a wonderful week with Didier and Phil at their B&B, Absolute Paradise. The house was immaculate, the pool and spa crystal clear and inviting, and the hospitality was first-rate. We felt more like visiting friends than paying guests. There are lots of things to see and do in the area, and we fould the locals... more

Recently I spent 5 glorious days at Absolute Paradise. With places like P'town and Ogunquit here at my doorstep, one goes to The Big Island not for wild parties and a million boy-bars, but for peace and quite. The eastern side of the Big Island is one of those places that allows you time to read, walk, sit on the... more

An owners reply. For some travelers the perfect vacation is a sealed room at the Four Seasons in a big city next to expensive restaurants and loud smoky nightclubs. For others it is the exact opposite. Life after all is a matter of taste. Interestingly, many of the same items the Atlanta reviewer found objectionable are exactly the same items... more

We just got back from a week-long stay at Absolute Paradise B&B and we had the time of our life. The host made us feel welcome from the minute we got out of our car (he came to meet us in the parking lot) and it just got better from there. Even though they are located on the wet side... more

Relaxed atmosphere is yours to find at this gay-owned B&B on the Big Island's southeast coast. Secluded location offers beautiful clothing optional black sand beach within walking distance and delicious hole-in-the-wall restaurants in nearby, rustic Pahoa (20 minutes). Spent a week relaxing and visiting area sites -- Volcano National Park (1 hour), steam vents (20 minutes), fantastic snorkeling at Kapoho... more
