Per Dave Ewing, owner...he is shutting down the B and B to focus on his Pahoa coffee shop and to do lava tours from his Kalapana location. We stayed with David and Charlene for an unforgettable trip to see the lava flowing into the ocean. Our family (two adults and boys, 17 and 13) had a great time being guided to lava flows by by David. We felt safe on the whole trip. We did the Lava Hike a few days ago. What an experience! There were a couple of nice flows, directly into the ocean. Very impressive and the pictures we took were amazing! My wife and I were fortunate to go on a lava tour with David last night. As other reviewers on Hawaii may note, there numerous tour guides to pick from...we thought David was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, chatty, friendly and safety conscious. I originally chose the location due to it being "a bit different" and close to Volcano National Park. The reason why you may not see too many reviews for this place is because it perhaps is not used as often as it should be due to it's very unique location and relatively new opportunity for stay. It was built just a few years ago and is very green, wind and solar energy only as it's supply of living.... More
