Hedonisia is a lot of fun if you like more adventurous travelling. It's definitely nothing like a hotel and if you prefer staying in hotels, don't bother with this place. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in Ocean View hut and it was great. It's true jungle living so you have to be prepared for constant dampness and... More

You can be a regular tourist or hippie backpacker and have the time of your life here! Keep an open mind and learn to live partially off grid and you'll want to come back over and over again. Great staff of Intern Trainees who are learning the hospitality business. If sleeping outdoors in a funky hut or tent is your... More

My family stayed here for two nights and have awesome memories that will last a lifetime. We had the kahuna cabin which had a super comfortable king bed and our small boys shared a twin. We cohabited with geckos, fell asleep to the frogs and woke up to the roosters. My boys loved their little pee-zone outside the cabin and... More

I really enjoyed my stay at Hedonisia: a beautiful place, warm and welcoming people and good accomodations. I stayed at the ocean view cabin, from where I could - what's in a name ;) - see the ocean. Hedonisia is built on an ancient crater, now that's something quite extraordinary. Beautiful trees and flowers everywhere and if you're lucky you'll... More

We enjoyed our four night stay at Hedonisia. We stayed in the Kahuna Cabin which has a comfortable king size bed, a table and chairs, electricity, wifi and a nice view. It also has a single bed. I loved hearing the frogs (they are quite loud) and other sounds from the jungle at night. Due to the large screened area... More

When we wanted to book this place, there was no free room, so we asked if we could camp here. This was absolutely no problem, and so we could just put up our tents in a dry area. We were allowed to use all community areas (bathroom, kitchen), and they made us a really good price ($200 total for two... More

To best appreciate Hedonisia I recommend one staying for a while. I have stayed here twice. Once for one month and the next year for three months. I am an experienced traveler and there are few places I have been with such a positive and relaxed atmosphere The property itself is beautiful. There are a diverse plethora of tropical plants,... I came to Hedonisia planning to just stay for two weeks, but after the first day I knew I was staying as long as I could. I ended up staying there for two months and having the best time of my life. It's one of the cheapest places and you get so much out of it. I met the most... More

We visited the delightful Pahoa district on Big Island this October and we absolutely loved the setting in the jungle that went completely Alive at night with the sounds of bugs and frogs. The first night was difficult to fall asleep, but not really due to the noise made the nocturnal creatures, but due to the fact that our sheets... More

I came here knowing NOTHING about the Big Island, and even less about Puna, the area called the "last true wild west." Fortunately I stumbled upon Hedonisia, a funky hostel with down-to-earth owners and a relaxed, homey vibe to it. I volunteer here under their work-trade agreement, and I love it!!! There are SO many papayas and bananas growing here,... More
