What a great value for money in Hawaii. Bernie and Maria are so amazing and kind people and very helpful. I enjoyed everyday of my staying on that lovely place, and pictures does not show true beauty of this place. I would love to come back to Kalani. All the best from Marcin

Kalani is a very special place, a spirituality and wellness Center across from the ocean in the Puna Jungle area of the island of Hawaii about a 45 minute ride from Hilo. It is a transformational experience for many. I received a sense of what Kalani can mean during my seven day stay. If you desire travel to be an... More

Kalani is a paradise of laid back comfort in the lush jungle of Puna. The people (staff, volunteers, guests) are friendly and welcoming. I took advantage of the Experience package for 6 nights accommodation and 3 meals per day, plus a massage and all the workshops, etc. The food was amazing - I had the best ahi tuna that I've... We were not staying at the retreat, but went to the cafe area a couple of times to have a snack & coffee, buy T-shirts & artifacts and use free Wi-Fi. The place was very peaceful and seemed to have some Buddhist touch to it. Just looking around from far one could see that there were a lot of activities... More

This is a retreat centre that also has accommodation options for non-retreat guests. The feeling at the resort is very relaxing, and was a great place to stay. We are both vegetarian, and were there for christmas for a couple of amazing buffet dinners. The breakfasts were also good. Maybe not great value, but great tasting. We had a car,... More

Like others have said, I didn’t find Kalani to be very good value for the money. It's in a gorgeous seaside location with so much potential, but didn't quite live up to my expectations. In hindsight I probably would have rather booked a local Airbnb, self-catered my own meals, and just paid for drop-in/donation-based yoga classes at Kalani (I’m sure... More

Splashing down in this idyllic paradise within paradise offers visitors the opportunity to indulge in an absence from media stimulation and to transform one's spirit by ways of dance, yoga, bodywork, Hawaiian traditions, while observing the resort's namesake Kalani Honua - harmony of heaven and earth. Revitalize through healthy and creative cuisines such as Thai, Indian, and Italian that embraces... More

My friend and I went here for a week long yoga retreat in Sept. The room was small but sufficient with private bath and common area within the building. Food was mostly vegetarian but pretty good overall. Our package was all inclusive. Pool was clothing optional and the gay males hung out there a lot. Yoga was with Les Leventhal... More

There is so much to love about this area. Beautiful grounds, the rain, the ocean. Unfortunately there is a lot that Kalani has to do to make this an amazing oasis. Pro's: The scenery, you just can't beat it. Some of the staff/volunteers were very nice, especially people leading activities. Food was hit or miss - mostly miss, would have... More

If you are looking for a casual, "adult day camp" experience in a lush, tropical setting this place is for you. Here's my breakdown: The Good: - Very friendly, caring community. You get a taste of Hawaiian kinship and community - Food is fresh, healthy and consistent in terms of quality and being prepared well - There is plenty of... More
