This place is for those seeking a peaceful, comfortable stay that is seriously off the beaten path. If you are traveling with kids who need constant, instant entertainment, this is probably not for you. It is not a hopping place. It has a golf course and a tiny pool on site, and the residents, many retired, are quiet, and like... More

We appreciate your review. Sea Mountain resort is a rural gem indeed! We are so glad you enjoyed the quiet off the beaten path resort and were able to take in some of the local flavor like the beautiful black sand beach. Please come back and visit us soon. More

Our family of four stayed here while celebrating my daughter's birthday. The kids enjoyed the pool at the resort and the condo we stayed in was comfortable, but the highlight was the black sand beach within walking distance of the resort. This is the Hawaii I remember from my childhood, with a beautiful uncrowded beach and nature as far as... More

An amazing hidden gem about half way between Hilo and Kona on the coast. We had an ocean view looking just past the golf course. The staff was super friendly while loaning us a knife and tongs to BBQ the mahi mahi we purchased from the store. Literally walking distance to Black Sand Beach where sea turtles swim around and... This is a dated establishment that is WAY off the beaten path. None of these rooms have air conditioning thus we will never return. The paper thin walls will not allow you to sleep late. Also no restaurants close. The only redeeming quality is the fact you can walk to the Black Sand Beach where the snorkeling is amazing.

A nice little getaway spot on the island, near Punalulu - the Black Sand Beach. We rented directly from the owner who was very responsive and ensures the unit is well kept. This is where you want to be if you don't need the resort scene. Bring a good book and lots of sunscreen. Only criticism is we did get... More

Late Sept. 2014, we got a Studio from Sea Mountain. The unit we got had an outside door entry with several tiled stairs that led down into the Studio where there was a kitchenette/living room. The living room had a 3 seat couch (that pulls out to a sofa which we did not use) and a matching single chair. There... More

You must know that most rooms here have no air conditioning! Temps do cool down at night but it is important to know going in. Resort is hours from main cities so get groceries before leaving Kona or Hilo. Knowing these two bits will help you plan and make a short stay or a week long adventure very enjoyable. Staff... More

We had a 1 bedroom condo through our timeshare. The place was huge, on 2 levels. Beautiful lanai overlooking the golf course and ocean. It had a full kitchen(stock up with groceries before you leave Kona or Hilo because the condo is not really close to anything ) We were kind of nervous when we started driving because the GPS... This resort is beautiful! Our condo was clean and spacious. The ladies at the resort office are super friendly and helpful. Our kids loved the pool (though it is small); however, children are not allowed in the hot tub. We only stayed one night as a pit stop to see the local beaches, but I wish we had another day... This is one of the most peaceful and serene locations we've ever been to! We'll be back! TIPS before you get there: Regardless of whether you fly into Kona or Hilo, buy an inexpensive cooler and buy your food! About 6 miles from the resort, there is a small store, but it is not open late -- and the prices... More
