If I could give 2.5 stars I would. I booked this hotel for a few days during our trip to the big island to spend time near black sand beaches and volcano. There are beautiful views from the pool area. The location was nice, though off the beaten path (so if you do book, get groceries in Kona/ Hilo before... More

If you are looking for a comfortable place close to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, this is the spot! Within 35 to 45 minutes you are at the caldera of Kilauea. Also perfect if you need a quiet place to write reports or essays. It is remote, so bring your food either from the Kona area or Hilo before you... More

This is a lovely collection of cottages, one and two story with a beautiful view over the golf course to the ocean. Located very close to Black Sand Beach it is walkable. This is a much sunnier wll ace to stay than the Volcano with misty rain and colder temps yet still reasonably handy to Volcano National Park. It is only... More

We came with food and supplies knowing how remote this location was, but we certainly didn't come prepared for the roaches. I saw the first in the cupboard followed by a pair on the kitchen counter, and by late evening I had already killed half a dozen of them, including a giant flying one that flew into a running ceiling... This place is for those seeking a peaceful, comfortable stay that is seriously off the beaten path. If you are traveling with kids who need constant, instant entertainment, this is probably not for you. It is not a hopping place. It has a golf course and a tiny pool on site, and the residents, many retired, are quiet, and like... More

We appreciate your review. Sea Mountain resort is a rural gem indeed! We are so glad you enjoyed the quiet off the beaten path resort and were able to take in some of the local flavor like the beautiful black sand beach. Please come back and visit us soon. More

Our family of four stayed here while celebrating my daughter's birthday. The kids enjoyed the pool at the resort and the condo we stayed in was comfortable, but the highlight was the black sand beach within walking distance of the resort. This is the Hawaii I remember from my childhood, with a beautiful uncrowded beach and nature as far as... More

An amazing hidden gem about half way between Hilo and Kona on the coast. We had an ocean view looking just past the golf course. The staff was super friendly while loaning us a knife and tongs to BBQ the mahi mahi we purchased from the store. Literally walking distance to Black Sand Beach where sea turtles swim around and... This is a dated establishment that is WAY off the beaten path. None of these rooms have air conditioning thus we will never return. The paper thin walls will not allow you to sleep late. Also no restaurants close. The only redeeming quality is the fact you can walk to the Black Sand Beach where the snorkeling is amazing.

A nice little getaway spot on the island, near Punalulu - the Black Sand Beach. We rented directly from the owner who was very responsive and ensures the unit is well kept. This is where you want to be if you don't need the resort scene. Bring a good book and lots of sunscreen. Only criticism is we did get... More

Late Sept. 2014, we got a Studio from Sea Mountain. The unit we got had an outside door entry with several tiled stairs that led down into the Studio where there was a kitchenette/living room. The living room had a 3 seat couch (that pulls out to a sofa which we did not use) and a matching single chair. There... More
