Transitioning to Big Island life was no trouble especially living alongside the Ecohostel staff on their lush jungle oasis. Hearing coqui frogs lull you to sleep was one of the simplest pleasures during my stay at the hostel. Everything is high vibes, super conscious and forward-thinking. It was incredible to be immersed in such sustainable practices. Everyone was so open-minded... More

Eco Hostel Hawaii was home for me for more than a month, my first month, on the Big Island. It gave me a great location to start my travel from, great friends working alongside me who were accepting and enthusiastic on every level, and some of the best times of my life every night (and day). The jungle location is... More

Such a peaceful place to stay, relax and get to know some great people. While I stayed there I never stoped exploring the island and painting. If you're smart and lucky enough to stay there, please say hello and give some love to the precious dogs that live in the hostel! Peace to all and safe travels:)

I just returned from my trip to the big island of Hawai'i. This was the furthest I have ever traveled with just a friend so I was a little nervous. As soon as I arrived at Eco hostel Hawaii I was welcomed with open arms. The owners and guests were some of the most incredible people I've ever met. When... More

Eco hostel hawaii felt like a home away from home. A friend and I stayed for two weeks and absolutely dreaded the day we had to leave. Not only is the place incredible, but the people are what make it worth the stay. Everyone is so inviting and passionate about what they do that it rubs off on you in... More

I was only intending to stay at Eco Hostel Hawaii for five days and ended up staying for three weeks! I can't even begin to explain how much I took away from the time I spent with the wonderful people I met in Hawaiian acres. This place is everything I could have hoped for and I never could have predicted... More

I was a first time visitor to Hawaii and wanted to get off the beaten path. After all, I had enough "civilization" waiting for me when I got back home. Eco Hostel was exactly what I was hoping for. From the minute we drove onto the beautiful grounds I felt at home. The jungle plants and sounds were spectacular and... More

I came to Eco Hostel in late August I ended up staying through April. The hostel became my home and everyone there my family. I loved the work trade program. They gave us room to come up with our own projects and ideas, always encouraging us to be creative. Working with the staff and other volunteers was always a fun... More

We visited for three days and found an eclectic group of guests that were friendly, inspiring, hard working and focused in making a positive difference. The owner Kenny was very knowledgeable, educational and speaks from hard work and vision. I was so impressed with how they are cultivating the land, thoughtfully planning accommodations and offer an experience like no other.... More
