We stayed for four nights in the cottage. It was absolutely fabulous. Yes, it is a drive from Hilo and yes, the road out there is paved but uneven, (and can be hard to find esp at night, make sure you have good directions or a GPS), but what a great place once you find it. It is right by... More

Only there for two nights but it was a great location between Hilo with the waterfalls and the Volcano Natl. Park. Wonderful food and a gracious host. Would stay there again for sure. Thanks Pat & Mary!.....Tj and Glenda from Pismo Beach, Calf.

Found this great hideaway run by Mary and Pat. So peaceful and quiet - and we didn't even mind the coqui frogs! Great ocean views, fantastic breakfasts (banana stuffed french toast with homemade guava syrup!), and a wonderful rooms. It was a great spot to just hang out also. Didn't get a chance to try the pool or hammock, but... More

We rented the cottage with another couple and it had tons of space, was clean, quiet, and fully stocked. Homemade locally-grown breakfast overlooking the ocean, hammock on the deck, tranquil location - hard to beat.

This is an excellent Bed & Breakfast. We were there for 5 days, and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you, Mary and Pat for your wholesome, fantastic breakfasts and the most comfortable bed we have ever had away from home. We loved our stay. Donna and Terry

Sisters Mary and Pat operate this wonderful B&B and both are warm and friendly ladies. Our visit was like staying with "family". We stayed in the "Aloha room" in the main house and had a lovely room with private bath and private entrance to the lanai. Breakfast is served on the lanai and was always fantastic. We'll miss the "fresh"... More

Pat and Mary have been most gracious hosts. Our stay, while seeing most of the Big Island, often included long hours and it was always a welcome "home" on our return. Located across the street from the ocean, the lenai offers a view of whales and sea turtles as well as the meeting place for guests to share adventures over... More

My friend and I spent a week here and couldn't have been more satisfied with the the cottage we stayed in which had all the comforts of home, including a nice size TV screen where we could watch the Australian Open after a great day of hiking. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was exceptionally clean The breakfasts... More

Our family of four spent 3 nights in the cottage at Ala Kai B & B. We loved the location, views and our hostesses, Pat and Mary. We cooked several nights and the cottage kitchen had everything we needed and more. The beds are comfy, the house is very clean, the decore is fun tropical and casual so we were really... More

Ala Kai is a rare sanctuary from the tourist rush. You reach it by a sinusoidal private road, which by itself is fun to drive, Immaculate house with accomodations with all amenities of home; elegant , spotlesly clean, where the surf and chorus of the frogs and birds are the only sounds in the night. The swim in an attractive... More
