My wife and I stayed at this BNB for four nights and after the first day we wished we had booked this place for four more. Location: It is great, especially for the beaches and ocean view. The best two beaches we visited were #1 Mauna Kea (great for swimming and snorkeling, just get there 8am) and #2 Hapuna (15... More

My husband and I stayed at Makai Hale Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights on our honeymoon. We couldn't have been happier with our stay! The place is absolutely stunning...located on a big hill overlooking the ocean. The unit we stayed in was spotless and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable, large bathroom, beautiful patio overlooking the beautiful scenery, pool,... More

We were fortunate to have found and spent time at Makai Hale this past April. It is a wonderful place to stay for some quiet or as a base to explore the island. We managed to fit in a lot of both! The best thing about the place is Audrey and level of service she provides. That's saying a lot... More

We stayed at Makai Hale for the last few nights of our vacation in Hawaii in August 2014, and boy, had we saved the best until last. I spent ages hunting for the perfect place to finish our trip in style - nice views, own pool, high up (daughter freaked by thought of midnight tsunamis!) and away from the tourist... More

The B&B Makai Hale is ideally located to explore the northern and western part of Big Island like Pololu and Waipi’o Valley and beautiful Hapuna and Makalawena Beach. Audrey is a lovely host and runs this place with great passion. She provided us with an excellent self made breakfast which was different each day but always included tropical fruits and... More

This accommodation is located in a gated community, but features nice facilities and a beautiful location. The homemade breakfast was delicious each day, and the view out the window of our room was simply spectacular. We didn't spend much time in the pool or jacuzzi, but I would recommend doing so.

This was the last B&B I stayed during my stay on the big island. When I arrived, I was welcomed by Jerry and the first thing was, we watched the sunset and just talked. He showed me everything, gave me some tips on where to eat and where to go the next day. The room was very clean and had... More

We spent two nights at Makai Hale in November 2012 and had a great time there. Booking and arrival were very easy, we could already leave our luggage there although we were too early for check-in time. As we wanted to go to the beach that day, we were able to borrow beach-mats, a cooler and beach towels (all in... More

We spent two lovely nights with Audrey at Makai Hale and were very pleased with the accommodations offered. The property is located within a development but each property seems to have a lot of land so there is no crowded "development housing" feeling - the weather on that part of the island is rather dry so in June the grass... We were the guests of Audrey and Jerry for two nights with two 17 year old boys and our stay could not have been better. The web site does not do this place justice! I can't imagine a better view on any of the islands and we have stayed at some pretty great places. You basically have a house with... More
