This is an inn; no breakfast. And don't expect hosts to hover. It is a fascinating and historic building that has grown over the years. Once it was home to a Parker Ranch manager, later Lawrence Rockefeller's quarters. The sprawling public rooms, library, and billiard room are all quite amazing. The guest rooms, with their 12 foot ceilings, are elegant... More

We had a decent stay at the jacaranda. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was huge, and the property was nice. Reading previous reviews, I would agree it was sort of strange. It's not your typical hotel where you are walk in and be greeted by the front desk staff. We walked down the long hallway, and I had to holler... More

This was one of the most unusual stays we've had. We selected this after reading a review in The Big Island Revealed. We arrived, my husband checked us in and we never saw anyone again! We knew breakfast was on our own and it is close to Waimea so this is not a problem. It was just a bit odd.... More

The Inn was very charming but very much in need of a facelift. It seems worn rather than charming. With a little tender loving care it could be wonderful but sadly they seem to be doing the bare minimum to maintain the property.

This is a lovely property with unusual decor in the rooms, probably not to our taste, but notwithstanding, the host was a strange sort and not particularly welcoming. Wifi only works in the main room. Eerily similar experience to swans11's review.

There's a lot to like about this place, with a couple of caveats. I should preface this review with a warning that when I have time off and stay on island, I am usually at a ocean side resort, or camping. This was my first experience staying in Waimea, and the first night we had a storm where winds on... More

My husband and I had a great experience here. This inn is ideal for couples who would like some privacy and comfort. It was also very close to Merriman's Restaurant, site of possibly the best dining on the island, and a good base location for exploring Hawi & Waimea. We had excellent, attentive customer service from Mary Ellen. We live... More

We arrived in the early evening for only one night's stay and had a little trouble finding the property in the dark and the rain. At the end of the sweeping drive we found the front door open and instructions to proceed down the long hallway to an empty back office, where a further note advised us to ring the... More

Had a place in kona but needed to be here at 430 am for a hunt. The accommodations here were extremely nice. Mary Ellen was helpful in getting me settled. There are excellent backdrops of hills/mountains with cattle grazing on the green grass. For bow hunters I was able to use my target and confirm my bow was sighted in.

Historical house with still the atmosphere of its founding period. It is located in the countryside, near by a hillside. Our room was beautiful, clean, comfortable and very quiet. The house is very well kept, the dining rooms, lobby seem to be exactly like decades ago. There is not much service. Unfortunately they do not offer breakfast, though the porch... More
