I stayed here as the first stop on a long awaited birthday trip and could not have been more pleased. There's a saying on the BI that you're either Hiloside or Konaside, and after two visits, I know I'm a Konaside girl. I wanted somewhere tranquil and relaxing and this was a perfect choice for me. Jackie upgraded me to... more

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here very much! Yes, there were very large spider webs as we walked in, but the 1920s bungalow overlooking the ocean gave us the relaxing escape we needed. Our host was gracious and helpful. Her rooms were very tidy and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and sitting together with other travelers at breakfast... more

I'm not sure where to begin with this place. First of all, you arrive and immediately notice that there are spiderwebs (HUGE ONES) everywhere. I guess it's supposed to capture flying insects, but I'd honestly rather be eaten alive by mosquitos than have to walk through a cave of spiderwebs every time I walk through the front door or hang... more

We stayed there for one night, and enjoyed it very much! Our reservation was for the budget room, Jackie voluntarily upgraded it to the Library Room (no extra charge). Our room was beautiful! It was clean, romantic, with lots of reading books. There was a private bath in the room - shower only- with Avalon Organic products (just like we... more

We stayed in the Moon Room (the budget room with detached bath) at the Waipio Wayside Inn for seven nights from Dec 19-26, 2007. This was our first time to Big Island and Hawaii. We absolutely loved the Waipio Wayside Inn. The room and bathroom was very clean and kept well. Jackie's breakfast in the morning was made very well... more

This bed and breakfast was very nice and in a convenient location to stay in while driving around the island. Hilo does not have many nice places to stay and so we checked in here. Our reservations were made last minute as a cabin we had planned on staying in at Hawaii Volcanoes Nat'l Park had too many spiders for... more

This is a beautifully kept old plantation house. It's on a dead end road, with a fine view of the ocean, very quiet and restful. Breakfast is great, location is convenient to much of the northern and eastern sides of the island. We had the least expensive room, which meant a short sprint across the common area to the bath.... more

This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely, quiet, secluded inn. The owner was away this time, but the innsitters she chose were just perfect. Breakfast features local fruits (some right off the trees in the backyard). Everything was clean as a whistle but, if you are allergic to cats, you probably should stay somewhere else as... more

We turned up at the door after passing on the Honokaa Club hotel nearby and we took the Moon room as it was the cheapest. The bathroom is across the living room though so not the best for privacy. Everything was spotlessly clean and breakfast consisted of fresh fruit and muffins. The sit-in hosts (Jackie was on holiday) were both... more

I spent two days at the Waipio Wayside Inn for a short getaway and change of scenery. Although I expected the place to be of the highest quality with incredible views, I was very surprised by the highest standards overall. Jacqueline was most accommodating, with her quiet and soothing voice, sharing her deep knowledge of the Waipio, Honokaa and Waimea... more
