We decided to stay close to Waipio Valley to hike down to the fantastic black beach down below. Jacqueline was a fantastic hostess. Her home is inspirational, designed to make you feel good. The giant library of books on Hawaii and Japan that is available for reading is a great feature as well. We were very sorry to miss the... More

Charming B & B in a great location to use as a base while exploring the Waipio Valley and the NE side of the island. Jacqueline is a wonderful host who serves a great breakfast and is also very helpful in making suggestions for things to see and do in that area. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay... Enjoyed a two night stay at the B&B late March. Jacqueline was a charming host who assisted us with helpful advice for activities . The room was comfortable, immaculate and charming. Lots of beautiful, stylish touches, especially loved the locally hand blown juice glasses that accompanied the yummy breakfast !!! I would highly recommend this B&B.

This is a nice, quiet B&B with easy access to the Waipio Valley. Jacqueline is a lovely host who makes the experience of staying at her place feel like visiting old friends. The house has a large, centrally located sitting area and open dining area that encourage the guests to sit and chat. Jacqueline's breakfasts are very good, and not... More

We read wonderful reviews about this place, but decided to stay at another establishment as it was in the heart of Honokaa. After checking in, our hearts sank as our accommodations lacked the basic things it promised. We checked out the next day and were greeted at Waipio Wayside with fresh baked cookies and hot tea. We enjoyed our little... More

Jacqueline is a great host. She prepared special breakfasts for me to accommodate for a gluten-free necessity. The breakfasts were delicious! The property is very nice, room was comfortable, slept great! We spent 1 day viewing Waipio Valley on horseback. A great way to see the valley. Saw humpback whales right off the coast at Waipio Overlook, just 6 miles... More

Jacqueline was the perfect host - greeting us with a very welcome cup of tea and providing excellent suggestions for dinner (along with good directions!). The room was comfortable and very clean with tons of reading material (fiction and guidebooks) and an extensive DVD library for cosy nights in. Breakfast was communal (so come prepared to chat with your fellow... More

This is a great little place. I don't typically like B&Bs--too many doilies, too much socializing with strangers. But this place really is solid. Like most B&Bs, this really is a home converted to an inn, but the rooms are lovely--clean, elegant, tasteful, private, and doily-free. Soothing night sounds from the rainforest outside, great location, good breakfast, respectful and professional... More

I inspect all the inns on this island for quality control. I stayed at Waipio Wayside in October 2013 and found everything to be quite nice. I slept well and everything was very clean. Jacqueline is a conscientious and experienced innkeeper. She does a wonderful job of taking care of all the details!

What a great place to stay! Jacqueline is an amazing person and wonderful host, the little touches and love and care really show in her whole home. We stayed 3 quiet nights in the library room and spent a lot of time relaxing on the huge deck, especially loved the hammock, and in our room, everything was so comfortable. The... More
