This was a perfect stop for us. We were provided a clean room, soft bed and a private bathroom. There wasn't any A/C but we weren't looking for any. The sounds of the area were all around, but it wasn't unpleasant. The manager of the hotel was very informational and helpful.

Stayed at this little hotel/motel afew years back. Although it lacked everybit of what you would find in your typical modern hotel, it had a Hawaiian charm to it! I had a room with a partial view of the ocean which was nice. never had any problems with noise etc. here, but I was out exploring most of the day,... More

The hotel was nostalgic, but very noisy. There is a hostel on the top floors, neighbor dogs that bark periodically, couqui frogs chirped all night, and the next door restaurant had live music until 11:00pm. Even worse was the snoopy schoolmarm, lives on-site, manager. She was intrusive rather than hospitable. If you want a good night sleep without a mean... More

Let me first say, we lean toward "off the beaten path" places and the old Hawaii feel, so the fact that this place we less than perfect really didn't bother us. We stayed upstairs in the new section (1946). Our room (#10) was clean (saw NO bugs), and being a corner room with windows on both sides lent a tree... More

Old school family run hotel... This place give you one of those "authentic" feeling experiences. Intact and unchanged from sugar cane days, the rooms are retro 1950s style, simple and clean. The owners make it their business to not only make you feel at home and share info on the region, but also have you on a first name basis... More

Stay away! We paid for a night and found bugs in the room and bed (private room upstairs). We brought this to the attention of the managers within minutes of checking in and couldn't get a refund even though we were leaving. The woman said there were cockroaches and bugs everywhere in Hawaii and we shouldn't expect our rooms to... More

I grew up in Honolulu and made a return trip to Oahu and the Big Island recently. We stayed at this hotel, which reminded me of what the islands used to be like -- it offers simple, basic necessities off the beaten track away from swarms of tourists. A clean room, cooled by the tradewinds with a view of the... More

Well, I read about how terrible about how this place was, but on my solo cycling tour I got caught in a rain storm and said "Well, how bad can this place actually be". REAL NASTY, as I was soon to find out. So the place was pretty much empty, maybe 2 other rooms taken. I took a dorm room,... More

I read good reviews in guide book and decided to give it a try because location near Waipi'o Valley. Price was higher than expected ($99 with tax) and cleanlyness nonexistent. The first room we checked in to had no running water in the bathroom sink. They moved us to the room next door with running water. The smell was so... More

We were cycling around the island of Hawaii with a group of six and needed a convenient place for two nights. Our room had large windows with a nice view but the room was not quite clean, the bed marginal, the bedspread need a wash, the bathroom functioned. I opened a window for some ventilation. For breakfast we journied to... More
