We have just spent 4nights at the Hilo Honu Inn and thoroughly enjoyed it. Gay made sure our stay was perfect. We stayed one night in the tatami room and 3 nights in the Bali Hai room. Both rooms were immaculate and beautifully done. The breakfasts were delicious and were always served with fresh Hawaiian fruit and coffee. I was... More

Be prepared for the warmest of hugs and welcomes from Innkeeper Gay upon your arrival; a spotlessly clean and delightful decorated B&B, with a breakfast 'to-die-for' to send you off on your day. BOOK THE 3RD FLOOR SAMURAI SUITE for absolute luxurious treat - from the authentic Japanese construction, to the 5foot deep soaking tub, modern bathroom and glorious twitter... More

My husband and I stayed at Hilo Honu Inn last August. Although we had been to Hilo before on our honeymoon, we did not know about Hilo Honu and stayed at the cheap but no-frills Hilo Seaside Hotel. We were told about Hilo Honu this time by a family member who lives on The Big Island and were so thrilled... More

Gay was absolutely a delight to meet and took great care of us. The home is welcoming and beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed absolutely everything about this place. We would go back in a heart beat! Thanks Gay for everything. You and your home are awesome!

It had only been one year since our first stay at the Hilo Honu Inn. In that time Gay and Billy had upgraded our favorite room with a large flat screen tv that included free netflix too! Which after 12 hours of hiking the volcano was great to come home and relax with. Last year we had an AMAZING time,... More

Thank you for another wonderful vacation. Gay and Billy are wonderful hosts and you can feel genuine aloha as Gay greets you in the driveway with a hug. You feel like part of their Hawaiian family "ohana" and they are a wealth of knowldedge about the local history, language, cultural traditions, and anything else one would like to know. Breakfasts... We were delighted to stay at the Hilo Honu Inn. Gay was a wonderful host, and assisted us from the moment we decided to book and until we left. We felt very welcome and did not want to leave. The rooms were beautifully decorated and were of decent size to accommodate our family - 2 adults with 2 kids. Breakfast... More

Every now and then you come across a place you want to keep secret, it's that good. This is such a place. We stayed only one night (necessitated by circumstances!) knowing that this wouldn't be enough. The house is charming, built in the Japanese style in the early 20th C, and spectacularly decorated, especially the upstairs suite which Gay showed... More

We were delayed a day due to airline and Gay was so gracious that she didn't even charge us for the lost night! The breakfasts were amazing and hospitality just as great! Highly recommend this B&B! It feels like home!

We had a great stay at Hilo Honu Inn. Gay was so friendly and helpful with tips for all of our planned destinations! Our room was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast, cooked by Gay, was absolutely delicious! Great base for exploring the east side of Big Island and the volcano!
