We stayed in the samurai suite which was designed as a Japanese tearoom. The views and decorations were gorgeous! Gay was a gracious hostess and made delicious breakfasts. She is very knowledgeable about Island life and culture. A great b and b both for people who are used to staying at bed and breakfasts and for those who typically shy... More

Gay was very welcoming, making sure everythig was all right for us. The house is really beautiful : cottage from the 30's with japanese architecture. Every room was pretty and it was super clean. It is located a really calm residential neighborhood, but close to everything. Gay is a great cook, her breakfasts are delicious. I was very impressed. I... More

I stayed at Hilo Honu Inn for two days with my parents and it is a very memorable and excellent experience. Gay, the hostess of the inn welcomed us upon arrival. She is a very nice lady, gave us a lot of helpful advises for out travle plan. The breakfast were also nice, made with local fruits. Overall, I couldn't... More

Being my first time staying at a B&B I don't have much to compare it to, but I can only hope our experience at Hilo Honu Inn is a standard in the industry. Gay made us feel instantly welcome from the moment we pulled up in to the driveway, and continued the sentiment throughout our 3 day / 3 night... More

I was off a day and inadvertently reserved a room. Gay was understanding and did not charge me. Also, she was responsive to all communication and genuinely friendly. Hilo is not as touristy place as Keno but it nearby beaches with great snorkling and bodyboarding and good resturants.

This B&B was a very good place to stay in Hilo. Nice rooms. Very clean. Plenty of information on what to see on the island. Best part were the breakfasts. Excellent! Fresh fruit. Yogurt. And the special of the day. The pancakes were especially good. Good free wi-fi. Off street parking. Quiet neighborhood but close to downtown. I would stay... More

We stayed in the Samurai Suite in October for four nights and really loved this B&B. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, especially with the great views of the ocean from the sitting area. The breakfasts were also delicious and the owner was friendly and always helpful.

Firstly, the owner is amazingly accommodating and made us feel extremely welcome with great local knowledge and advice. Secondly, the rooms were clean, well appointed and everything that you'd expect from a top notch B&B. Thirdly, breakfast. Homely and just what is needed for a day of adventures. We would highly recommended the Japanese suite. The website's photos do not... More

We skirted around Hurricane Ana, coming from Kauai, and arrived in Hilo on the afternoon of the 19th. Upon pulling into the drive Gay, The Inn Keeper, greeted us and showed us to our room. Another couple had cancelled due to the hurricane so Gay upgraded us to a larger room which was simply incredible. King-size 4-poster bed, on-suite bath... More

Iʻve stayed in tiny makeshift B&Bs as well as five-star hotels and Hilo Honu Inn is the best accommodation Iʻve ever stayed in. It is convenient, clean, and spacious with a warm ambience. I could have spent hours admiring the design of the rooms, the tasteful and comfortable furniture, architectural details and the Hawaiian antique collections. The owner, Gay is... More
