We stayed in the Samurai Suite in October for four nights and really loved this B&B. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, especially with the great views of the ocean from the sitting area. The breakfasts were also delicious and the owner was friendly and always helpful.

Firstly, the owner is amazingly accommodating and made us feel extremely welcome with great local knowledge and advice. Secondly, the rooms were clean, well appointed and everything that you'd expect from a top notch B&B. Thirdly, breakfast. Homely and just what is needed for a day of adventures. We would highly recommended the Japanese suite. The website's photos do not... More

We skirted around Hurricane Ana, coming from Kauai, and arrived in Hilo on the afternoon of the 19th. Upon pulling into the drive Gay, The Inn Keeper, greeted us and showed us to our room. Another couple had cancelled due to the hurricane so Gay upgraded us to a larger room which was simply incredible. King-size 4-poster bed, on-suite bath... More

Iʻve stayed in tiny makeshift B&Bs as well as five-star hotels and Hilo Honu Inn is the best accommodation Iʻve ever stayed in. It is convenient, clean, and spacious with a warm ambience. I could have spent hours admiring the design of the rooms, the tasteful and comfortable furniture, architectural details and the Hawaiian antique collections. The owner, Gay is... More

A friend on the Big Island told our families about this gem. Two of us stayed in the Samurai Suite which had a large bedroom, bathroom with a Japanese soaking tub ("furo") and shower, a sitting area and an elevated view of the Hilo Bay from three sides of the suite. Gay, the owner, was a very gracious hostess and... More

We were in Hilo for a family reunion. Hotels in Hilo are limited and even the best would compare to an out dated motel 6 in the mainland. The last time we were here we stayed at the "top hotel" our bathroom door didn't open & our nightstand was termite eaten & that was the least of things. We do... More

We had reservations at a hotel in town that succeeded in disappointing us in every way before the first night was up. We had 4 days in Hilo on our honeymoon and wanted to enjoy it in every way and lucky for us, Gail answered my call! We were blessed to stay with her for 3 nights in her wonderful... More

We stayed several nights in the upstairs suite with our 14 yr old daughter in the 2nd bedroom. Very comfortable and interesting taste of Japanese culture so prevalent in Hilo. The owner, Gay, was a wonderful hostess; very knowledgable. She directed us to an authentic, local hula show which was so much better than the gimmicky luau we went to... More

Beautiful, historical house in a safe and quiet neighborhood. We stayed in the Honu's Nest room, which very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh, home-cooked, and delicious. Gay was a great host, with lots of knowledge of Hawaiian culture and local Hilo sights. She even surprised us with a bit of hulu dancing at breakfast!

This B&B was a great find in Hilo and gave us the local experience we were looking for. We stayed in the Honu's Nest and the room was very clean, comfortable, and well decorated, as was the entire house. The Hostess, Gay, was very warm and welcoming and gave us plenty of ideas for what to see on the Big... More
