If you plan to visit Hilo and are looking for a B&B consider staying with Claudia “At the Beach with Friends”. Across a quiet road from the black sand beach of Richardson State Park, the setting is stunning and very convenient. The house is large and tropical, reminiscent of our years in South East Asia. We stayed in the Lagoon... More

Such a lovely place, we had the bamboo room, large airy and very comfortable bed. Every you may need is taken care of, beach towels, flippers mask all there to be made use of. Beautiful setting with lovely garden just across the road from one of the many beach parks in Hilo. Freshly cooked healthy breakfasts daily and tea coffee... More

This was a most delightful B&B. Home cooked, healthy breakfasts, coffee & tea made available all day, a lovely beachside but intimate rainforest oasis location around a water and fish filled lava tube made this a gem of a place to stay. Claudia, the owner is simply delightful, and so accommodating...she loves a chat and provides excellent local knowledge about... More

The previous reviews and pictures made us choose this property and weren't disappointed. With only three rooms, it was more intimate than larger properties. Claudia enthusiastically greeted us and gave us the grand tour. Even though it is across from a Hilo beach park, the grounds are surrounded by well manicured jungle grounds with a fish pond. Our room was... More

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Bamboo room last week. The room is very comfortable and spacious. We loved the sliding door that opened up to a beautiful tropical garden. We didn't mind the singing bugs at night...didn't keep us up at all...it was actually unique! Breakfast was delicious and Claudia was very friendly and helpful. We... More

After the dire warnings and the supply of earplugs on the dresser, I expected the coquis to be deafening but they weren't bad. The room was comfortable and the grounds are pretty with tropical foliage and koi ponds. The "beach" is more of a rocky shoreline and was pretty trashed with cans and bottles when you get up close but... More

We stayed at this B&B for 3 nights at the end of nearly 2 weeks of travel in Hawaii. In Waikiki we stayed at a high rise on the beach amid thousands of tourists, on Maui we stayed at an old inn in Lahaina in a very busy tourist area, but for the Big Island we wanted to stay in... More

The inn is very well designed and decorated, and the landscaping extremely lush and beautiful. We slept with the ceiling fan on and the windows wide open. The frogs were loud, but it made the tropical experience all the better. You have to be up for a more adventurous stay here and unbothered by insects and geckos, but if those... More

This guest was part of a family of four traveling with a family of three- 7 related persons. A large group creates a different dynamic and challenges for me then sets of unrelated guests who are trying to make new acquaintances. I do the best to balance the needs of each individual guest. I set up a generous buffet breakfast... More
