Very nice place with great hospitality. Breakfast was very good. The house surrounding is beautiful and the beach is very close . Claudia , the host, gave us very good recommendations for places to go to. The house is beautiful and the room is nice. We enjoyed our stay very much.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Bamboo room last week. The room is very comfortable and spacious. We loved the sliding door that opened up to a beautiful tropical garden. We didn't mind the singing bugs at night...didn't keep us up at all...it was actually unique! Breakfast was delicious and Claudia was very friendly and helpful. We... More

After the dire warnings and the supply of earplugs on the dresser, I expected the coquis to be deafening but they weren't bad. The room was comfortable and the grounds are pretty with tropical foliage and koi ponds. The "beach" is more of a rocky shoreline and was pretty trashed with cans and bottles when you get up close but... More

We totally enjoyed our stay At The Beach With Friends! It was very comfortable and beautiful! Claudia is a wonderful Hostess, and exceeded our expectations at every opportunity! The breakfasts were healthy AND delicious! She helped us decide on the best tours, restaurants, and attractions, making sure each moment was well spent on the Island - we will certainly be... More

We stayed at this B&B for 3 nights at the end of nearly 2 weeks of travel in Hawaii. In Waikiki we stayed at a high rise on the beach amid thousands of tourists, on Maui we stayed at an old inn in Lahaina in a very busy tourist area, but for the Big Island we wanted to stay in... More

The inn is very well designed and decorated, and the landscaping extremely lush and beautiful. We slept with the ceiling fan on and the windows wide open. The frogs were loud, but it made the tropical experience all the better. You have to be up for a more adventurous stay here and unbothered by insects and geckos, but if those... More

This guest was part of a family of four traveling with a family of three- 7 related persons. A large group creates a different dynamic and challenges for me then sets of unrelated guests who are trying to make new acquaintances. I do the best to balance the needs of each individual guest. I set up a generous buffet breakfast... More

A fabulous retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In walking distance from the ocean and a lovely cove for a quiet swim or a snorkeling view of the marine life. The rooms are delightful and well suited for an overnight stay or a weeklong base of operations. Claudia is the perfect host, not intrusive but always... More

Entering Claudia's B&B, I felt like I could be in many tropical places - a combination of American craftsman style, Balinese wooden sculting, screened porches in the southern USA or Australia. Tasteful, solid and clean... peaceful with common areas to visit others. She is a little ways out of Hilo and right across the street from some small, safe, rocky... More

Claudia was a fantastic host. Our room was splendid and immaculately clean! Breakfast was 5 star, my husband especially enjoyed the granola and I loved the blueberry scones! As other reviews have mentioned, you can hear the frogs at dusk, however this didn't bother us at all and we slept fantastically. There were a few mosquitoes about but Claudia had... More

Not easy to find, so get directions before setting off if you declined the satnav on your car rental. Coming from England we are not used to so many bugs as you get beside the water here. Claudia, the rather eccentric friendly owner tried to help with a few squirts of fly spray, but as she has probably got accustomed... More

Body heat from exercise such as unloading suitcases from the car, certain blood types, metabolic emissions of the body, fragrances, clothing color and even drinking beer can make individuals especially delicious to mosquitoes. Our visitor from England was right that I am less bothered by the presence of mosquitoes that are common in Hawaii then he and his wife. Genetic... More
