I could justify giving this accommodation 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars as it's full of pros an cons depending on what you are looking for. It was obvious we weren't expected despite having a booking confirmation. This was quickly and smoothly rectified and we spent the night in the small upstairs cottage. This was very clean, bright and colourful.... More

Megan and Jasper are incredibly gracious and personable hosts, and the Lotus Garden is a beautiful place. Hilo is a very cute town, with plenty of attractions, but Lotus Garden is the best accommodation available by far. It's cute, warm, tropical, and it has a ton of personality. It's conveniently located, and it really makes the stay more colorful. Our... More

Quaint cottages and studio accommodation in peaceful garden-setting Very accommodating hosts, rooms quite clean Great downtown location - ridiculously close to supermarkets, great restaurants and local farmer's market

This is a long overdue review from a trip in August 2014. We arrived just after Hurricane Iselle did what she could to ruin the island. It certainly could have been much worse than it was. Megan and Jasper were still cleaning up when my family arrived, and we couldn't have had a warmer welcome. We had been in touch... More

The setting and the place is really nice. It's downtown Hilo and the location is super convenient. Restaurants, a farmers market and the beach is in walking distance. Megan and Jasper are outgoing, friendly and very nice. Most of the houses are in the garden in the back and away from the main street. We, unfortunately, stayed in one of... More

Looking at this review we are concerned to think that a guest didn't enjoy their stay as we strive for a great experience for all our guests. We have a lot of reservations in this accommodation and we have a 4 and half star rating for this apartment. It's true it's right on the street but we take care to... More

I organised our trip to the Big Island 6 months in advance, including one night booked and paid for in full at this accommodation. 3 days prior to our intended stay, and while in the midst of our Hawaii adventure, I received an email from the owner advising that a new booking system had overwritten our booking and apologised that... My husband and I chose to stay at the Lotus Garden as part of our honeymoon and we certainly wasn't disappointed. When we arrived Megan wasn't around but Jasper helped settle us in to our room along with one of his and Megan's cat - as we're both cat lovers we found the cat with the long fur to be... More

My wife and I spent a week at The Lotus garden and found the entire experience to be outstanding. The room itself was clean and well furnished, and was adjacent to a full kitchen. The setting was charming, colorful, and with the kind of feel you just can't find at a hotel or most other settings. The Hosts, Megan &... More

You can't beat the location if you're visiting Hilo. Right in the heart of it, walking distance to farmers' market and local restaurants, museum and movie theatre. Easy access to waterfalls, Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Loa plantation. Cute design, clean, peaceful and friendly management.

This gem is hidden right off a main drag in downtown Hilo – a treasure inside bright red gates just off the beaten path. Megan & Jasper, the owners, have decorated the buildings in cheerful colors, with many special artistic touches throughout. The grounds are really lovely and peaceful, with Buddha sculptures tucked into lush plantings, giant avocado trees, gorgeous... More
