We stayed just two nights at Lory's lovely bnb in a nice, quiet residential part of Hilo. By far the most memorable part of the stay was Lory's wonderful breakfasts - a superb range of fruits right from their garden, home baking, smoothies etc.beautifully prepared and presented on the spacious lanai. Our bed was quite comfortable, though the shower and... More

We stayed two nights in the Sunrise room which appeared more inviting in the website photos than it really was. It felt cramped and under decorated. As the photos show, the sink is w/in the room. The toilet/shower combination is in a cubical with 3/4 high walls. Room service does not include making the bed. There is no TV. The... More

We can't say enough kind things about Lory and her B&B! This is the second time we've been here and will always book a room here when on the Big Island. As other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfasts, the yard, the lanai, the rooms, the neighborhood ALL were out of this world. Lory's hospitality make the place so unforgettable. The... More

We stayed at the Old Hawaiian B&B for three nights at the conclusion of our trip to the Big Island. The room was spacious, and the king size bed beyond comfortable. Our room, which featured a bathroom with sunken tub, and open shower, was perfect and we looked forward to returning each day after sight-seeing & driving around the Hilo... More

I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating! What a perfect place to call home while visiting this side of the Big Island. We stayed in the spacious Hawaiian Room with the equally large bathroom. Loved it. I think the hosts, especially Lory, have worked very hard at making their home quite special. The graceful lanai was laid... More

Beautiful home in a very quite suburban area of Hilo. Beautiful grounds with many local fruiting trees backing on the Wailoku River. Rainbow Falls and The Boiling Pots just a short walk away. We only stayed one night in the Bamboo Room as we took time out from our West Side vacation to tour the Hilo side of the island.... More

We stayed for two nights in the Sunrise Room in mid-November during our anniversary trip. The property is in a quiet residential area. The garden was wonderful, the breakfasts were perfect - delicious and visually stunning. The breakfast is served on the porch/veranda/lanai. As there are only three guest rooms, the breakfasts are cozy, lively events - this of course... More

Yes, the room at the Old Hawaiian was pleasant, with the breeze blowing in and and the comfortable bed. But the real story of this place are the lanai and gardens galore. Bird sound around the clock kept us company-- at night through the windows in this neighborhood with large yards and plants and trees abounding. The property itself goes... More

Stayed three nights at Old Hawaiian, a comfortable home set in a subdivision just a short drive from downtown Hilo. Enjoyed the fresh baked breads and assorted fruit picked right from the backyard. Lory and Stewart are pleasant hosts, very accommodating, and have put in a lot of effort to make their B & B as comfortable as possible.
