Maureen is a wonderful hostess. It always feel's like home. The house is an antique and somewhat rustic but homey and comfortable. Reading some reviews on here I am shocked at the negative comments. If you have done any traveling in Europe you would appreciate this diamond in the rough. The Big Island is in a severe drought and the pond... More

We had a great stay at this B&B. Maureen was a very helpful host with locating beaches, giving us coats to go up Mauna Kea (we sure needed them!), providing beach towels and other necessities that travelers often need. The location is great, you are right by the beaches. The rooms we stayed in shared a bathroom which was perfect... More

Maureen presides over her beautiful old Hawaii house, built in the 1920s with 8 bedrooms. Beautiful wood everywhere! The common rooms are wonderfully open and welcoming-we spent time relaxing and let the sightseeing wait a day. Maureen is a fountain of information about the area and keeps copies of the best guidebooks for her guests to use. She has also... More

To be fair, this review is only based on our walk-through of the property. After we saw it, we didn't want to stay there. Geckos are cute, I get that, but after I saw them crawling on the kitchen counters and Maureen told me she fed them overripe bananas, I was a bit creeped out. (I doubt they were house... More

We spent 3 nights at this beautiful home. Maureen was a fantastic host. She planned our 3 days for us and was very informative, knows the island well, leant us a big island guidebook, cooler box and beach towels and snorkel gear were available. We had a lovely room with a ceiling fan and we shared a bathroom with another... More

Nice location from town, very near Richardson State beach (practically across the street) and an amazing beach. Maureen was very kind to us and we enjoyed to hearing about her love for horses. There were only two of us for two of the three nights we stayed (in the 5-7?) rooms. A young couple was leaving the next day we... More

Maureen is an excellent host who has opened up her historic home for visitors to enjoy. It is a lovely house, furnished with beautiful antiques, in a paradise setting. Maureen has lived in Hawaii for many years and clearly loves her little part of the island. She goes out of her way to be accommodating and is a pleasure to... More

We spent nearly 2 weeks at the AMAZING Maureens Bed & Breakfast. We would have just stayed and worked for her however we had to return for work! From the very start, Maureen has given every other B & B in the world something to strive for!, The overwhelming customer service and amazing personality of Maureen was exceptional! The frogs... We spent 3 nights at Maureen's in April 2013 with close friends as part of a week-long vacation to the Big Island. Flying into the Kona airport, our plan was to attend sunset & stargaze on Mauna Loa and then descend into Hilo. Maureen was amazingly gracious and the customer service in accomodating a late arrival like this planned went... More
