I read the last review and I do not think it treats Ken or Antonio fairly. We stayed at the Emeralview last October for two delightful nights. It is a beautiful setting. The deck attached to your room overlooks a river. At night it is a delight to listen to the rushing river and the frogs chirping (that's right, those... more

...followed by an ultimatum for us to leave. Now, to elicit this kind of reaction, you'd have expected us to have been doing something pretty extreme. Perhaps staggering in drunk at 3AM and playing loud music. Or causing irreparable damage to what without doubt is a stunning property. Not however, while watching television and laughing at just after 1am! This... more

We enjoyed lots of things at there, excellent room, delicious breakfast, nice riverside landscape and good hospitality. Especially we loved many historical Japanese furniture, paintings etc. It looks like museum. When we visit to Hilo next time, we will definitely stay at there again. more

I don't think there's a whole lot more we can say about this place that hasn't been said already, so we'll try to be brief and just give our 2 cents here. - SERVICE: the absolute #1 reason why I would stay here again! Ken and Antonio always go above and beyond to be sure that our stay was comfortable.... more

Complaining is not my thing and there is none to do here. The place is fantastic. They are well situated near town. The waterfall outback is spectacular. The hosts are so very pleasant and full of good information. We loved the restaurants they suggested. The room was completely comfortable. Ken & Antonio should be part of your Hilo trip and... more

If you like luxury, serenity, and want to fill your senses with beauty this place is for you. Where should I start. The innkeepers Ken and Antonio gave a warm greeting and showed us around the inn. Our large room was beautifully decorated room with an airy Asian theme. Open the sliding glass doors leading to the veranda which is... more

Comfortable room, great views, helpful hosts--this place deserves all the high marks. We generally prefer large hotels, but were quite at home here. You can enjoy breakfast in the privacy of your room, come and go as you please--and yet get expert advice on local sights and activities. Stay here, and don't miss the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden or the... more

My mom and I were staying in Hawaii to visit family in Kona. We drove around the island and stopped for the night in Hilo at the Emeraldview. The hosts had true Aloha spirit and their guesthouse was in absolutely immaculate condition. Though there is no smoking in the guest house, there was a nice bench and ashtray area set... more

Emeraldview Guesthouse is beautifully decorated! It is on a fabulous street, very close to the old downtown area of Hilo. We stayed in the Ginger Falls room, and it was quite a treat. Loved the balcony, the view, the hot tub, and the breakfasts! Ken was very helpful. I also liked that our room was close to the front door... more
