Everything was absolutely magnificent. The view was breathing taking; the hosts were charming, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was gourmet! The rooms were clean and comfortable. No complaints. Everyone should be so lucky to experience sush a spectacular place. I would highly recommend this B&B for your visit to Hawaii!

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hale Kai recently, and it was the best bed and breakfast spot we've found. The setting - nestled on a cliff above the Pacific - was really awe-inspiring. The inn has a spectacular view of Hilo Bay. My husband -having been a surfer years ago - was mesmerized by... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our honeymoon. We loved the location, it was a 2 mile drive from downtown Hilo, the view was spectacular! The breakfasts were delicious, we had macademia nut pancakes one morning! yum! Our hosts were very helpful with suggestions. We stayed in the Pele suite, which had a nice sitting area... More

Hilo, Island of Hawaii June 17, 2006 My husband and I just returned from our stay on the Island of Hawaii at the Hale Kai Bed and Breakfast in Hilo. The location is very good, but unfortunately we were not satisfied with our stay. Our room looked like it was decorated in the 70's and had not been updated. The shower door... More

This was our first B&B stay and it was great. The owners were nice and offered up advice whenever we needed it (we were worried that a B&B might be intrusive-they weren't!). Lovely views and very relaxing sounds. Great breakfast and yummy coffee. I even got to hang out with their dogs for a little bit (I love dogs). The... More

I wish there was a number 6 for rating. My third trip to Hale Kai was the best ever. The couple who own the home are gracious and helpful without being overbearing. I was traveling as a single woman and I felt safe and accepted. In fact at the end of my trip I had planned to spend my last... More

Our first three nights in Hawaii were amazing. We stayed at the quaint, genuine and real home at Hale Kai Hawaii. It was everything we wanted in our first accomodation. Was it the sound of the waves at night or watching the surfers in the morning? The plants, atmosphere and genuine good feeling sold us. Ricardo and Maria are beautiful... More

This was our third visit to Hale Kai B&B and we still love it. It's on a quiet residential lane that's easy to access and removed from Hilo's downtown tangle. Lanai views over Hilo Bay simply cannot be beat. The 4 rooms are modest in decor and comfortable (we don't like froo-froo). We feel right at home here. Hot tub's... More

We visited the Hale Hai Jauary 14, 2006, staying 4 nights. The breakfasts were awesome. Rick was there, Maria wasn't. Make sure you ask for the Coconut/Macadamia nut pancakes. You won't be dissappointed! Watching the whales and the surfers during breakfast was fun, too. If you want to know what to do, and where to go, Rick's your guy! Whether... More
