We enjoyed our stay at the Hilo Hawaiian very much. Although an older property, it has been recently remodeled. The rooms are spacious and the view from an oceanside room is spectacular. The location on beautiful Banyan Drive is a big plus. We found the staff to be uniformly friendly and accommodating. Good free wifi was available, but only in... More

The rooms were spacious and clean with great views. I can't really complain about that and would stay here again if I ever went back to Hilo. Honestly wish I had more time to explore but was only here for a couple of days. It's a big hotel and as such has all of the amenities that one would offer.... More

We have visited this hotel many times over the years and I still love to stroll down Banyan Drive and photograph the huge banyan trees planted in the 1930's by such people as Cecil B. DeMille, and his wife, MRS Cecil B. DeMille. (what WAS her first name?) The hotel is very nice and has a wide open lobby, the... More

In the past, we have stayed at Dolphin Bay because there are a limited number of hotels choices in Hilo. This time, we chose to stay at the Hilo Hawaiian because of the recent renovations. They did a great job of renovating the hotel rooms. All of the room fixtures were new--carpet, furniture, draperies, lamps, etc. It was really nice.... More

Hard to find the hotel of you're driving because the sign says Hilo Hawaiian hotel. No word that says 'castle' anywhere! Check in was a breeze. Hotel is outdated as some had said. I booked it anyway because the beds & sheets were clean and fresh. Free wifi in the lobby. Ample parking was free and this was a plus.... More

The ocean view was gorgeous! The room spacious and clean, bed very comfortable. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. Our server in the restaurant was friendly, fun and efficient. Location next to the gardens and Coconut Island very nice. Will definitely stay here again! Loved it !

This is obviously a 60s/70s hotel that is trying to redo itself. The rooms have been updated to more modern standards but the common areas still have a very antiquated feel. But, with that said, the hotel has a great charm to it. It's a hotel that's living, mostly, in a bygone era. The staff are extremely friendly and engaged... More

I stayed here for a company event. The hallway carpet looked fresh and not worn down, I didn't see any scuffed walls. The room has with a mini refrigerator and you need to turn it on The room was nice and clean UNTIL I turned over the bed sheets and there was a hair. Yes, I freak out! I called... More

We needed a hotel for 1 night and I have chosen this one because it seemed to be nice. Well, the hotel itself is really old and not really good looking, the elevator is a piece for a museum and the corridors are kind of '70s... Luckily the room is really nice, a big bathroom, nice forniture and very comfortable.... More

I am a business owner in hilo hawaii, and every time I have family or business guest come visit, I have them stay at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel!! Everyone from the friendly front desk staff, to the professional maintenance people and the positive housekeeping staff gave the best service I have had in a long time. The rooms are very... More
