After a busy week in Honolulu, I was looking forward to arriving in Hilo. First impressions and smells indicated that this hotel has seen better days. The rooms are large and the beds have comfy pillows, but the mattresses (2 double beds in my room) were a bit saggy. I like the fridge and microwave in the room, and the... More

Hilo Hawaiian has been renovated since my last stay two years ago. While the hallways still need updating, the rooms are very nice. I had a great view of the water and it was clean and comfortable with decent amenities. It is far from posh, but the best choice in Hilo and a solid choice. The breakfast in the restaurant... More

Given its location, this place could be super if it could only get out the 60's. It's outdated, poorly decorated and could use Anthony from H&G. Asked for a hairdryer and they left it and then took it away because someone else wanted it? This was part of a package, probably the only way to sell it. Sorry about negativity... More

The town of Hilo is not the main tourist area of the Big Island and there are no high-end new hotels in town. I was there for an event and the local host chose this hotel for the out-of-town guest as the best in town. It is located in a pretty peninsula next to Liliuokalani Botanical Garden and the small... We stayed in the 1 bedroom ocean view suite. It had two Queen beds with two lanais. It also had a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Room was large with a great view. Check in was easy. Right next door to a nice park

First - my impression of Hilo... well I do not feel it was setup to be a tourist area. Really, the street layouts, parking situations, hotel locations, airport, shipping ports... This is a working real-world area... a more rugged and practical side of the Big Island. The Kona side has the beaches and expensive fancy resorts...it has the touristy planned-out... More

We stayed here two nights while we travelled around the big island. The room was average the view over the water was nice. We paid for wifi and found out that the charge was per device. We were on a working trip so one of us went to the lobby to work each day. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Food was really pricy so... More

We stayed for five days in February 2015. Great location, next to Coconut Island, and the Japanese Garden. Interesting to see the height of the historic tsunamis, and the theoretical flow through design of the hotels along the waterfront. Renovated rooms are very nice, although the extra cost for in room Internet is unreasonable, like a lot of high end... More

Pleasant and comfortable king room on the Banyan Drive side benefited from the morning sun and tropical bird sounds at sunrise. Room was clean and possibly recently, and tastefully, refurbished. Treat yourself to the breakfast buffet (the continental is plentiful and represents better value for money) and take your time to enjoy the sweeping views of Hilo Bay and Mauna... More

This is a pleasant hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. The view across the water at night is lovely. The restaurant food is not up to the mark for the prices they charge -- improvement needed here. All in all, a pleasant stay but I would not eat at the hotel restaurant again.
