Hilo Hawaiian is probably the nicest hotel in the Hilo area. Certainly the setting was attractive. It met our needs, was adequate, for our one night stay. We wanted to be near the Volcano Nat'l Park and to see another part of the island. That part of Hilo feels a little run down. The title "Flashback" refers to the feeling... More

Room, vanity and wardrobe well designed and spacious. Bathroom floor a pseudo bamboo non-skid surface. Very separate toilet/shower. Superb balcony, could spend hours there. Very comfortable bed. Pool OK. Reception never over-run and very friendly. Room had been redecorated. 5 minute walk towards town to one of the few good cafes or restaurants in Hilo (Hilo Bay Cafe - 808.935.4939... More

We were told that the Hilo Hawaiian was the best hotel in Hilo. It may be, but there are dozens of other hotels that are far superior on the Kona side of the island. With that said, the hotel was very attractive, in an excellent location right on the Hilo Bay and just a couple miles from the airport. The... More

I had a short business trip to Hilo, haven't been there in while. I was pleasantly surprised by the newly renovated Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Very conveniently located and easy to get to. Staff was very pleasant, service excellent and rooms clean and comfortable. I'd return again.

A gorgeous view of Hilo Bay. Location close to everything in Hilo and also to the Volcano National Park. Affordable, but we had to purchase wifi separately, which cost us an extra $40 for the week. Bad part of it was that it could only connect to one device at a time, which made it frustrating for our family of... More

Couldn't find many other options for our 2 night stay in Hilo so settled for the Hilo Hawaiian. It was cheap compared to the other hotels we've stayed at during our trip in Hawaii. And the facilities reflected this. eg no in room iron/hair dryer, had to ask front desk for them. no wifi in room, and the network in... More

We stayed there 4 nights, travelling as family with 4 year old child. Location of the hotel is a bit outside of Hilo, with a very nice view over the bay. Hotel is quite big, many rooms. The rooms have been renovated but are still quite small and nothing special but functional. Sleep quality was good, fortunately we did not... More

My family stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian over 4th of July weekend. We are actually residents of Hilo, but it has been a family tradition to book a room at the Hilo Hawaiian to watch the fireworks over the Bay to celebrate Independence Day. For this stay, we had a corner suite. It was nicely updated and had a fabulous... More

It's getting better, since it has been improved over the years. The rooms are ok but not so quiet since there's no isolation from the hall so you can hear all the guests walking by outside your room. There's no much to do around the hotel, so expect to drive a lot. (yes, rent a car), there is free parking... More

If you don't expect too much, you'll be satisfied. This is not a Hampton or Holiday Inn where you expect the same kind of room and service wherever you travel in the country. This is the best hotel to stay at of the bunch that are in Hilo town. The bar servers can be slow sometimes when it gets busy... More
