We drove to Aaron's cottage and didn't know what and where we were headed to along the small road leading to the place. A nice surprise and I fell in love with the place. The owner Alan is a friendly family man with 3 dogs - 2 boisterous dalmatians Max and Missy who came out to greet us. Pantry was... More

Aaron's Cottage is a nice place to stay in Hilo that feels like it is off the beaten track. Stayed here with my husband for 2 nights, wish we could have stayed longer and we will definitely be back next time we are in Hilo! It has a very down-home feeling, which we enjoyed, especially the delicious and generous breakfasts,... More

This is a nice place to stay while in Hilo. While this is an older property and not a luxury hotel, it is very comfortable, clean, safe, quiet, in a residential neighborhood, but still near to airport. There are only 3 units which share a community kitchen that has a stove and microwave, so you can cook your own meals... More

Our party of 5 stayed at Aaron's Cottage shortly after Tropical Storm Iselle hit the east side of The Big Island . Although 4 of us are actually Hilo natives visiting from the mainland for a family reunion , we could not have been made to feel more at home by Alan and Penne ! Warm and friendly hosts w/out... Due to Hurricane Iselle, we had to delay our arrival to the Cottage by a day. When we spoke with Penne, she totally understood. We were put at ease when we spoke to her because she is so kind. Upon our arrival, we were given a tour of the room, the yard and the "secret beach". Alan picked a coconut... More

My wife and I made our way to the Big Island after a few days in O'ahu, and knew we wanted a simple, budget-friendly, but comfortable place to stay in Hilo. We were used to waking up 6am due to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and so when we got to Aaron's Cottage, got to sleep in, and had... More

Aaron's cottage is very well located, near airport and downtown HIlo, but for sure a rental car is a must. Day trip to the volcano and Puna area are very easy. Alan, Penny and the dogs are very friendly and Ms Penny bake excellent breads and goodies for the breakfast. We really enjoy our stay.

Room is excellent. Aaron is super nice. Great location if you are visiting the volcano NP. By the way there's absolutely no need to stay in the Volcano hotel, I'll see nothing at night, all you save is 20min driving.

We were surprised to find such a reasonable accommodation in Hilo. Room and bed are basic, but that's all we need. Very nice back yard, with shaded tables. Nice neighborhood...and close to beaches/tide pools, which was what we wanted to visit. Best things about the stay were: 1) the friendliness of the host and hostess, and 2) the delicious breakfast... Very reasonably priced place to stay for a couple of nights away from everything. Very good breakfast that Penne made. Allen brought his dog out to see. Very friendly and kind hosts. We really enjoyed our stay.
