This "hotel" needs to be demolished. Whilst the location is good the entire place is run down, full of bugs, beat up and has a "mouldy" air to it. I booked the room based on the recommendation in "Lonely Planet" and as a result will view all Lonely Planet recommendations with a jaded eye from now on. Do yourself a... more

I stayed at the Wild Ginger Inn with my mother in June of 2005. I heard of this place from my Lonely Planet guidebook and, after checking out their website (which isn't updated, by the way -- the peacock didn't stick around when the owners took over -- and I really don't blame it!) and looking at cautionary tales posted... more

After reading the reviews on this site, I decided to give this place a try. There were some good things about the experience, and some not so great things. The continental breakfast was quaint and tasty. The fruit they serve is all grown on the property. The gardens are quite nice. I loved hearing the sounds of the insects at... more

If there were a rating between one and two circles I would put this place there as in "Okay, with many problems." I just returned from a long trip to Hawaii. Six nights in Oahu and three in Hilo at the WG Inn. Let's start with the good: The place is very quiet and away from the big city fluff.... more

I stayed here on my first visit to the island. I was completely blown away by the place, I felt like I had just been dropped into paradise in another land very far away. I hope to get back to Hawaii soon and for sure I will be staying at the Wild Ginger Inn. I have very good memories of... more

I decided to look for somewhere else to stay after not really liking the big Banyan Drive hotels very much, and the web photos of the Wild Ginger looked very nice. And some of it is very nice, particularly the open-plan area with the hammock, and the lush tropical gardens. If you're going to have time to relax in the... more

Good Things: > beautiful garden which they let you pick fruit and flowers from > I could see the ocean from the balcony > there were so many trees I couldn't even see the neighbors > comfortable hammock in the lobby > the price Bad Things: > lots of bugs in the room (mostly gnats and ants, also a few... more

The wild ginger inn, for us, was the "waouh" ginger inn... We are two journalist, coming from France to Hawaii for the canoe world championship. If you look for an explanation of the "Aloha spirit", just spend time at this hotel, 'cause everybody was amazing; Diane and Genesis who helped us when we were in need (we ask a lot,... more

I had a very pleasant experience at the Wild Ginger Inn. Diane and Genesis were great. The place speaks relaxation, and what is described as the 'aloha' spirit. The building is a piece of local history. It took a day to get used to the fact that I didn't have a daily maid service, or ready internet access, or a... more
