Stayed for just two days. Check in was efficient, service was great. Hotel is like stepping back in time in a good way. Lots of authentic artwork and interesting layout. Some steps to deal with depending on your room location but nothing severe. Beauty of a Koi pond right next to our room and the bay just across the street.... More

This hotel looks really bad from the outside as you drive up. The rooms are quite basic and the beds we had were soft. The TV is old and small but does work. The place is very quiet and it has a nice authentic Hawaiian ambiance. The pool looks nice and the area around it is well kept and the... More

We would stay at Hilo Seaside again next time we go to Hilo - the staff is incredibly friendly. The hotel is located in a convenient junction to sites to the north and south and has a quaint bay and gardens near by.

I stayed here only one night. It rained that night and with that and the amazingly comfortable bed and pillows I slept so well I slept through my alarm the next morning! The room was decorated nicely and was very clean. Quiet, easily accessible, & the staff was so nice. Cute little hotel in Hilo. There was not a ton... More

The place was fine. My family is staying 6 weeks in Hawaii this summer and came to Hilo for 2 nights just to see volcanoes (which were cool). Hilo seaside was fine. It's older, but clean. Pool is nice. However, it seems a bit over priced. We've paid the same to stay in nice places in Hawaii. All in all,... More

We've stayed at the Hilo Seaside for two nights. And yes, we're honest: first we thought that this is a total no-go. The rear of the house looks really shabby and the rooms (on the first look) seem to be really outdated and old ... but ... - the air condition was one of the most quiet ones ever expereienced... Close to the airport, the beach and with a couple of restaurants on the door step. The hotel is old but well looked after, the room was nice, looking out over the fish pond to the estuary and staff were pleasant and helpful. Not a great bed unfortunately, too soft for me. As an aside - we walked down to... More

The hotel is more like a motel. It is very dated and the truth is all of the hotels in the Hilo area are very dated and tired. It almost seems like a hotel ghost town when you drive down through Banyan Way. All of the hotels are run down, some boarded up, and others literally falling apart. I want... More

Aloha Mary H, We appreciate you taking the time to review our property. Hilo town has always maintained a quaint and quiet pace of life on the Big Island of Hawaii, which makes it such a unique place. We have been a landmark hotel and part of Hilo's rich history for nearly 60 years. We hope that we were able... More

It's an old school hotel, a really lovely, 50's kind of place that feels kinda like staying with family–all of which I love. (I personally prefer a boutique or a unique hotel experience to a commercial same-everywhere kind of stay.) The staff were really helpful, welcoming and sweet. Room clean and functional. View and decor excellent. It's not fancy. But... More
