First of all we are not in our room much when we travel so our room needs are pretty basic. Make sure to request a room away from the pool. Be aware that this is not a new hotel, it is locally owned and operated. It is not handicapped friendly at all. On a weekend day be prepared for A... more

Frm Mick from England. The Seaside was clean and confortable. Ideal for a relaxing stay. Staff were efficient and friendly. Only problem was the private restaurant attached (Coconut Grill) where the food was very expensive and service atrocious. The best alternative was the Ohana Gril (just across the road) where the foor and service were what I rated as excellent.... more

This little place is a gem! The staff is very friendly and the interior is quaint and unique. The early morning swim across the way in Ice Lake was lovely and the breakfast was perfect! The rooms were very clean and for the price it was just what we were looking for as far as location and amenities. The landscaping... more

I stayed here as an alternative to camping outdoors in a flooded and rainy campsite. So obviously this hotel was better than sleeping there. The room was very small, outdated, but provided a room at a bargain price. I wouldn't return here again. more

So there are not many options of houseing when it comes to Hilo (volcano side of the big island) so in those terms this place was pretty good. The price was very reasonable but you do get what you pay for. The expedia pictures make this place look a little more nicer then it is. To picture it think mainland... more

We thought we’d check out the reviews of this hotel as we did stay here for one week back in November 08. After reading through some of the reviews, I found most to be either giving too much praise or the opposite… placing it in the toilet. The truth lays somewhere in between that and one’s personal expectations. I would... more

I got this hotel through priceline and I do not regret staying there. But you need to know that all three words in the name are a bit misleading. Hilo. Hotel is not in downtown Hilo. For some reason all hotels in Hilo are next to the airport in a generic suburban setting. Downtown is 5 minute drive, but beyond... more

We decided to spend one night in Hilo to explore the area and from which to stage our late afternoon lava viewing. We'd already stayed in Kona, driven around the south end of the Big Island and also stayed in Volcano for our national park hiking/driving. We booked our room using the hotel-direct Entertainment Book rate and got the deluxe... more

First of all, HIlo is not a great beach town and the few hotels show that. The few in town are clustered on Banyan drive (where the seaside is located). At least some of the others look out over the water, which the seaside does not. The hotel looks straight out of 1960, with it's motorcourt set up around garden... more
