We were only here for one night. The rooms are very clean. Get a room on the fern hall or by the pool. Both have peaceful views. The pool area is very nice. It is near the airport, so you do hear the planes. All in all, great place.

On vacation, we don't spend our time in the hotel -- there's too much to see and do -- I want to absorb God's creation (and what He allowed mankind to do). So this hotel met our needs. I can see this having been THE place 40 years ago. (Unless I'm mistaken we were told it was built in 1956.... More

The hotel is situated close to the airport and to downtown Hilo, approximately 10mins drive from each. It has two-levels and is segmented to the Fern wing, the Ocean-view wing and the pool-view wing. The reception and lobby are facing a koi pond.the checking process was a breeze. The staff was very warm and even changed my room to one... More

I had to travel to Hilo for business on short notice and booked myself a room at the Hilo Seaside. I opted for the Kama aina rate, and knew this meant I would get what they call a "run of house" room -basically whatever type of room is available at the time of check in. I was expecting the worst,... More

Being a budget hotel, I wasn't sure how great this place would be. First, the location is nice and convenient. We were in the Fern view room which overlooks a little garden area in the middle of the hotel. Its nice and has a pathway you can walk through. I don't know how good the ocean view rooms are and... This hotel is a blast from the past, where courtesy, kindness and friendliness were all in abundance. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are comfortabe. What has made this trip wonderful is the front desk staff. Justin, Angie, Pricilla and Judy. They all made us feel t home and helped us plan our many days of adventure on the... More

The Hilo Seaside Hotel doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. It's an older locally owned hotel. I'd be more inclined to call it a motel. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a restaurant on site. On my first night, I had a burger and beer and listened to a local musician play. All very... More

A while back my daughter and I visited my brother's family, in Mountain View. We stayed at the Hilo Seaside. We had a room by the pool. Room was great for the price. An elderly gentleman was fishing for fish, at the pond across the street. He said he stays at the Hilo Seaside for two or three months, each... More

3 adults staying at condo for week in Kona needed overnight stay in Hilo after visiting black sand beaches & Hawaii's Volcanos National Park - so the next day we could swim in the warm thermal spring pools on Hawaii's southern shores and then visit some of the waterfalls prior to heading back to Kona via Saddleback road. Choose Hilo... More

Older hotel with very clean well kept areas and rooms. Cheapest breakfast is $6.95 and up with several choices. Deserves the ratings it receives. Had a room overlooking the fish pond and parking is good and free.
