I will admit that when you drive up the thought is wow what did I get myself into. yes the outside leaves a lot to be desired as the back part of the building is obviously not yet rennovated. The desk clerk was very nice and check in was quick. I am not a big fan of elevators whether the... more

Ok, I have stayed in small older European hotels before and nothing has been this bad. I'm not picky and I don't usually stay at really expensive resorts, but this is the worst I've ever been in. I booked through their website, using the "Love is in the Air" package, which included breakfast every morning and a basket of champagne... more

First thing first. If you are going to Big Island in Dec/jan, go stay in Kona, NOT HILO. Rain, rain, rain rain!!!! I had to organize my trip in 3 days and I had to book this hotel not knowing much except for renovation. When I called the hotel and verified about renovation, they said that the renovation has been... more

If you need to good night sleep, don't stay there. The renovated floors are all tiled (probably saves them money on maintenance) with no carpet so you would hear every bit of noise. Coughing, footsteps, doors closing are very loud. The whole place is dingy and run down. We had to move rooms at 11:30 pm because someone in the... more

We stayed three nights at the Naniloa. Had a very nice room, not very big and no balcony, but very nice renovated. They are still renovating so don't plan to sleep in, they start at 8am. We were up anyway at that time, but just to let you know. Didn't see a lot of the rest of the hotel...were always... more

Okay, I had read the reviews and was a little worried, but really turned out to be a pretty nice place to stay. The grounds are so beautiful. The view off our lanai was so awesome. Enjoyed sitting out on the pier and looking at the crabs climbing on the rocks. The morning walk to the nearby gardens was awesome.... more

Yes, they are renovating, but they are a long way from completion. The room we stayed in was nicely done up with modern furniture and was clean. If i didn't have to leave the room, then I would rate this hotel a 4/5, but we had to leave our room eventually. Here's what we didn't like: 1) Elevators. Not only... more

We stayed just one night. But we'll be back. As far as Hilo hotels go, this is really the best choice hands down. And really great location. Here are the goods, the bads, & some suggestions. TILE FLOORING. Hilo is damp damp damp, so carpet would gross me out, as well as not age well. Yes, even the hallway is... more

If you're looking for new and modern hotels on the Big Island, Kona is probably the side you'll want to stay. Surprisingly while staying in Hilo, the Naniloa is starting to transform its interior to modern tastes. I was pleased with the new rooms and beautiful bathrooms of where we stayed. Half of the hotel is still undergoing renovations. Once... more
