First of all, the Naniloa was our second choice..The Hilo Hawaiian was not offering discounted room rates, so we decided on next door. The exterior of the Naniloa is scary. very old, doors of the spa is boarded, the pool is a disgusting sight! the front desk clerk (lori) was very unfriendly, sour face. So much for the welcome, but... more

Our first room, which was on the second floor and a king deluxe, had mosquitoes and the sliding glass doors did not lock. We relocated to another king deluxe room the next day - it had roaches and on-going construction next door. My colleagues also had a king deluxe room which had ants. We decided not to move to another... more

My colleague and I read the reviewes prior to checking into this hotel and were unsure of what to expect. Surprisingly the rooms were quite nice. Some rooms have microwaves. I am told they will faze these out. Too bad as we stay for a week at a time off and on and that is an important commodity to have... more

Spent our first night in a B&B about 45 minutes north of Hilo. Although our B&B was very nice, it just wasn't for us. We called home to the mainland for advice as to where to go. We were giving three hotels to check out, and decided to try this one. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. Our room was absolutely wonderful.... more

This is an OK place. I would stay here again, though I think I'd look around at other places pretty carefully. The renovation is underway. They are putting a lot of money into it, but some of their efforts are misguided. They are tiling everything. The tile is very pretty and low maintenance in this humid environment, but it is... more

Among locals, the Naniloa has always been the hotel you stay at, when the Hilo Hawaiian is full. That happened to me, this week. But ... I had heard the Naniloa was doing major renovations, and had improved - being a frequent (several times a year) traveler to Hilo for business, I was hoping this was true. The first part... more

Where to begin...The Naniloa has so many problems it's difficult to put it all into words. This hotel is a dilapidated mess that should be condemned or at the least shut down for a couple of years and renovated properly. We were stuck in a room with our one year old that had no air conditioning, no windows that opened,... more

Where do I begin? This was the absolute worst hotel experience of my life. This hotel is run down, old, mouldy, damp and depressing. I woke up the first morning covered in bites from what I suspect were bedbugs. Horrible! more
